Should I avoid?
This game really really looks like something I would enjoy playing. I have a lot of hours on Euro Truck Simulator and I totally love trains.

I know this is an 'arcade' game, not a real simulator with realistic physics and controls. I don't mind that. I have other train sims that do the trick. But the whole trading/managing stuff, I do like.

But then I look at the super negative reviews and I saw the news of the developers abandoning the game (with reasons we may or may not agree with).

So... the question is: if I really love the concept and don't mind the unrealistic physics and railway signature, is this game good? Or is it so buggy that I should really avoid it, knowing that they will never get fixed?

Thanks for any insight!

ps. I saw another topic with a similar question, but there was no real answer there, mostly angry and disappointed people (which I totally understand, I supported Spacebase DF-9, similar story), but I don't have that history...

Update: answer to my own question = I gave it a try... STAY AWAY!

what's the point of playing it If the developers abandoned it

If the game works good enough to enjoy it, I don't care. Games from the 90's are no longer maintained by the developers and I still play them. But only if they work good enough.

It's got its quirks, my advice is to wait until it's in the Steam sale. Don't pay full price on a game that developers have pretty much abandoned.

Really the only *issue* with the game in its current state is the fact that at some points "oncoming trains" can spawn so close that the signal in front of you will turn red without warning. Beyond that, it's pretty decent and a fun alternative way to play train games.

It's no train simulator, but it's fun all the same.

As far as people complaining about the devs abandoning the game - that used to be the reality of all games. I really don't quite understand where/how we got into this idea that once a dev was "done" with the game they had to keep coming back to it. Devs make games and then they move on, that's just how it works. In this case the game isn't exactly "buggy" but has quirks. That's neither good nor bad.

I agree though, get it on sale, not full price. The game is overpriced at current prices.

If the game was open in a workshop kind of way it could be developed even more.

Yeah, with workshop, fans would push the game to new heights.

The Publisher Abandoned the game, not the Developer.

However in the Official Discord a Groop of Developers is attempting to make Mods for the game
I would wait for "Railroaders, short line operations" 1950' steam / diesel - single player & coop player. There's plenty of you tube vids "Railroader's play Railroader", over 200, 2hr long game development and tutorial how to play this game. and its company run style, yard shunting game play. not just a sim drive to destination.
