Just had my entire character deleted. Stay away from this game wait till it leaves early access and they fix the bugs.

EDIT: The developers are really on top of their ♥♥♥♥. They reached out and helped me resolve my issues really fast. This game has allot of potential if the devs are this active. If you have problems dont be afraid to reach out to them on discord. They will help any way they can. The is game extremely fun as well.

Basically feels like a simplified Divinity that purely focuses on combat encounters and gearing up. There's a decent chunk of customization available to vary character builds, mainly through different skill trees and mixing them. Combat is fine but does get repetitive as you progress through the game because the enemies lack meaningful differences for the most part. Special modifiers to individual enemies have been added recently but they haven't really affected how my party acts in a fight for the most part.

While reaching closer to the current endgame, the combat does feel a little flat due to how repetitive combat gets. Most of the early-mid levels were still pretty fun as I had to figure out what combinations of skills I wanted to use. The mid-late levels do start to become a slog as exp gain starts to slow down and you're using the same skills in mostly repetitive situations. Fortunes, permanent buffs collected through random events, have been added to add some more variety/spice due to how some can provide unique changes to your gameplay like new skills or effects while some will just be plain stat boosts. I still enjoyed it so I'd recommend it, especially if you get a group to play it with. It's early access and receives content/balancing updates so I'm going to keep an eye out for future improvements.

Uhh. So. I have like ~15000 hours into CIV VI. I mean, obviously I love that game but I was really starting to want to play something else.

See, in 2019 I had a stroke. As a result, my dominant hand is wonky so my timing is awful(!!) so I am stuck playing turn based games. Which in itself is fine, I like turn based games. I played CIV VI anyway. I played HoMM3 back in the day. A lot. Not 15000 hours but you know.

At some point in the last year I even fired up the ol' HoMM3, which was cute for a bit but it's so woefully dated, and 20+ years is not enough time to separate me from the amount of time I played it when I was younger.

I also hate genuine RPGs. If I want to read a book, I'll go read a book. I like books. I like games that allow me to execute tactics and strategies and flood me with dopamine. Having to read and remember plot points ruins it for me, which has made games I might otherwise like very tedious, e.g. Divinity.

I check out any game that is applicable. I like Battle of Polytopia, but it's a sometimes game, I get wore out on it pretty quickly. Some others are close but something always throws me off. Or it's an RPG with a story and yuck.

I forget how I found this game, but it's been a real treat. Almost exactly what I've been looking for. It's almost a turn-based Diablo, straight up. Has the flavor of WotLK era WoW a bit too, mostly in the skill trees as an old raider I'm having fun picking up low tier skills in other trees to min/max my character's specialization. Combat is structured a bit like that old FF Tactics PS1 game but obviously not so story driven and not so granular.

I think it has a story but sorta in the way Diablo does. Deckard Cain, yadda yadda something Diablo, yadda yadda ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You pay attention, you dont, who cares. Ive had no requirement to read anything here, I just play. As it should be.

This is very obviously in early access. It's entirely playable but there are weird UI issues. Like buying multiple potions seems to require you to keep clicking vs typing how many you want, something I recall being fixed in Diablo. Or if you're at the enchanting vendor, you can select a piece of gear but there's no indication which character has it equipped. Not the end of the world and I'd somehow imagine that stuff will get fixed eventually. But even if not, they dont entirely break the experience. But I hope they fix them! haha

Anyway, thanks devs! Definitely scratches an itch for me.

Stolen Realm is a dungeon-crawling RPG with turn-based strategy and much looting.

After creating your characters and selecting up to four different of them (the difficulty scales with how many characters you choose to take in your party), the game starts. Your home town gets attacked and you need to defend it. After the first battle, a mysterious mage will help you out, making you stronger and testing your skills.
Two more fights await you in which you will see some of what the game will offer later. Strong enemies, very cool skills, and bosses. After that, the mage will kick your a## and you'll be back in town. Now, you are back at your normal level. The first main quest starts.

They are turn-based and there will be fights with over 10 units involved. First, all of your characters act and after that, enemies will. This goes on till either your party is dead or all of the enemies.
Enemies have just as many different skills as your characters have.
Different maps also have different modifiers attached to them like shrines which give bonuses within a certain radius (like increased damage, armor, etc.).

The character creation is pretty detailed. You can change your class (four in total), then change attributes (like might, dexterity, vitality, etc.), select skills, the name, skin color, gender, hair color, hair type, etc.

Like said above, you can take up to four characters to your party. You can go back to the main menu and change your party at any given time. The highest level character will decide at which point the story goes on. If you select one character who already played 4 main quests and the rest of the team consists of newly created characters, you will immediately start with the fifth main quest. If you choose to bring in completely new characters, the story starts from the very beginning, etc.

For every battle or quest is done, your characters get EXP. Each time they level up, they will get 5 points to spend freely on their attributes and one skill point to spend on the skill tree. Every character
You can also boost their attributes and stats with items, such as weapons, shields, armor, rings, etc. There is a wide range of items, many with bonuses and penalties in attributes or even giving you new skills. This allows you to make your characters very individual.

Stolen Realm also is a looter. You will get plenty of items during and after quests. After about 5 quests I already had around 35 items (weapons, shields, armor, etc.) in my inventory. Every item has bonuses or penalities like boosting some stats and reducing others, etc.

In the town, you can buy and sell things as well as reset your points and reforge items. There are three sellers, one for weapons and shields, one for amulets and rings, and one for potions.

The game is fully playable in multiplayer. I couldn't test this but I imagine this to be very fun. The downside is that it looks like you can't play with strangers and just with friends you have on your friends' list.

• Battles feel satisfying. There is so much impact on striking or shooting enemies. It just feels good to do damage, looking at health bars getting reduced or enemies flying around after a death strike. They very well give battles much impact.
  
• RPG Elements. It's nice to level characters up, grind for skills, equip different and new items to boost stats, and get better. This is very engaging.
  
• It's fully playable in co-op (just with friends through) but this may be the biggest feature for some people.

• The Difficulty. You can change the difficulty for every quest (let's say your party consists of LVL 4 characters, then you can select the quest to be for level 1 up to level 6 characters, giving you more or less EXP as well as making enemies stronger). Playing on the recommended difficulty (the same level as your party) is just too easy. Because of that, much of the strategy in those turn-based battles gets lost. Playing on harder difficulties brings back some more strategy but it can also easily happen that enemies just kill you (especially bosses) because their attributes are just too good and they do too much damage, while you do too little. There is missing a sweet spot and I also think it sucks a bit that the game wants me to experiment with difficulties to find a challenging but not unfair one.
  
• Paired with that, it takes too long to level up IMO. As an example: I've played with three level 3 characters a full quest on raised difficulty (level 4). After getting the EXP for four fights in total, including one boss fight, and the bonus EXP for doing this quest, my characters still did not level up.
  
• It's repetitive. I know this shouldn't surprise anyone since this is a grindy looter but I'm all for more diversity in quests. I think different mechanics in quests (not just do these 4 battles) could spice things up a bit.
  
• The Performance. While I've played an early access version of the game, the performance suffered quite a lot compared to what specs are recommended. I'm way above those and with 8 characters on the map, it already got down to (in parts) 20FPS sometimes.

• The Grind. This shouldn't surprise people but I want to make something clear here. This is a looter. You WILL have to grind a lot between main quests. Sometimes the recommended level raises several levels between two main quests, forcing you to do side quests (which are mostly repetitive). This is fine by a lot of people, but others hate it. I just wanted to point that out.

Stolen Realm is a fun dungeon crawling looter with RPG elements and turn-based battles. Battles are very satisfying because you will feel the impact of every attack. Leveling up your character, looting stuff, equipping the next best thing and spending skill points is just as fun if you're into this stuff. The downside may be the grind. Overall the balance doesn't feel very good when it comes to how fast you level up and the difficulty of battles. I imagine this game to be very fun in co-op.

All in all, Stolen Realm is a fun game if you're into the genre and KNOW what you're buying into. Even though the positives are less in words compared to the negatives, the positives heavily outweigh the negatives when it comes to the importance of said things.

If you're into grindy turn-based strategy games I definitely recommend buying Stolen Realm!

Fun, but getting multiple characters leveled up is a pain.
I would love a 'let AI take control of this character' option, so I could focus on my main character, and let the AI take a tank/healer/other DPS.

I think I have to say I recommend the game out of the sheer number of hours and fun I had playing it. I will say this is the review at the last patch I played, maybe by the time you read this, things changed, since it's still early access.
Good things:
- You can experiment a lot, mess with build and items, you have a sense of progression. I loved playing arround with builds and trying stuff.

Bad things:
- Balance is off, far off, very far off.
- Endgame is just increasing the numbers, and at some point all enemies 1 shot any non tank (I run glory on every character to get at least 2 turns). I got to level 378 (heart of the realm) when I got bored, I could probably keep pushing just for the numbers.
- The game require more items, to enable more builds.
- This might have been fixed or not, I don't know, but when I played some structures really made it hard to see. Structures between our POV and our character need to be translucent.

Overall I think it's great for early access, and I hope they can push the potential onto a great game. I think the balance issues and item issues can be worked on. The endgame is always the hard part to do well, and this is what can make or break a game.

A great game if you like mechanics focused strategy games. Plays like a combination of Diablo, and Divinity Original Sin but on a hexagonal grid. This game just begs you to experiment with character builds by letting you choose a multitude of skills, from multiple different classes. If you like making weird hyper-specialised builds you will adore what this game offers. But most of the time, you can make anything work if you're smart about it.

The visuals while simplistic are charming, and combat can be very satisfying. Audio is ok, sfx are fine but pretty good in some places. I generally mute the music at this point in time as it's limited, but It's a great game to listen to a podcast or stream in the background, and a very good game to play with friends. You can have a party of 1 - 6 characters, played by 1 - 4 people in any quantities. I've played as 1 character while my friend has played 3 and it works well. The game balances well to match how many characters are in the party.

I'm writing this review after a recent update has made the balance a little on the tedious side to make a point that this game has fantastic developers, who listen to what people have to say. If you want a good example of an Early Access game, this is it. As updates have come and gone, the game is being refined well, and I continue to look forward to what gets added as time goes on.

Overall I highly recommend this game. I'm about 10 maxed out characters in, and keep wanting to make more. Support these devs, give them feedback and help make this game even better. For the current price, you can't go wrong. This game is also super easy to run, even on older hardware though YMMV.

Like Divinity, Diablo, and For The King all rolled into one, with some Oblivion music for taste

If you're wondering whether or not you should purchase this game or wait until it is out of early access, I would suggest you wait. I am a fan of tactics games and the randomly generated stages in Stolen Realm is a nice touch, but the balancing is pretty terrible in its current state. Here is a quick pro and con list.

Pros:

1. There are 8 skill trees and there are no limitations on how you build your characters. This creates endless varieties and has you planning ahead how you'll spend your points and wondering if your theory build will actually be viable.

2. You can pay to respec, so if your theory build ends up being a complete flop, you can easily redistribute attribute and talent points.

3. It's a fun tactics game with your typical magic, melee, and ranged counterparts. Most of the skills seem like they were ripped directly from World of Warcraft or Diablo, but the game isn't exactly shy about saying it's going for a Diablo-esque looter.

4. You can play solo and have a party between 1 and 6 characters. Enemies' HP and damage scales to the number of people in your party.

Cons:

1. While there are 8 skill trees, there are several perks that are blatantly the meta due to what is, in my opinion, horrible balancing of enemies.

2. The early levels (up until 5 or 6) are pretty fun, but the game quickly turns into a slog because enemy HP starts to scale into the realm of ridiculous and every boss turns into a giant meat shield (that can also one shot you). Unless you want to spend an extra 5-10 minutes (or more) on every boss, you're going to take the talent in the necromancy tree that lets you swap HP with your enemies and set it to 30%.

3. Damage scaling for enemy spell casters, even after they "nerfed" it, is still broken. Everyone but your dedicated tank, if you have one, will almost certainly get one shot by enemy mages. Maybe this changes at max level, but I ended up making two dedicated stunlock characters whose only jobs are to lockdown the bosses, because if they get even ONE turn, they'll kill 1-2 characters and it's RIP.

4. Loot drops are pretty mundane and haphazard since you're at the mercy of RNG. I've yet to find a piece of loot that made me excited and even if you manage to find an upgrade, it's negligible since it only results in an increase of 1 stat point. The Hunter I respec'ed into a rogue/disabler didn't get the type of helmet I wanted for 5 levels, 5!

Overall, I'd say the game has promise, but if there aren't substantial changes by release, I would recommend people against buying the game.
