Several hours into the game and can't craft a miners pickaxe.

I've unlocked the required perk in the skill tree and can craft the axe, hammer and hoe but the miners pickaxe says I don't have the recipe. It's becoming increasingly harder to progress properly without a basic pickaxe especially since one of the main quests requires one.

You can find one at the location where the people died (Road near Ghost town) inspect it to learn the recipe. Alternately buy one at the vendors and inspect it

I've already used all the pickaxes that I know of and have broken them all but I never inspected them. It's weird because I still haven't inspected the hoe but it's allowing me to craft them.

Sometimes, completing a quest objective will unlock a skill. Just buy one at the vendor and inspect it....... inspecting is important now.....

Yeah that’s my next idea. I check taxation every time I go there but no one is ever selling a pickaxe. As long as I know that it’s possible for pickaxes to be purchased in taxation I should be fine.
