You should be able to go back and get your original horse too. You can only call the horse you have previously ridden, but you should be able to ride both.
I do believe Calamity is the better horse, but in the end it comes down to what you prefer. I always get the golden one (via the different options in this quest) just because I like the colour.
Currently the Lone Wrangler is the only quest at Four Nines.
I wonder if I have an earlier save from right before that conversation......
Well crap that would have been good to know.....only option I got was to poison the stupid wells and then to "steal" the black horse which YOU CANNOT STEAL at least I have gotten ZERO ability to take that horse at all
