I have a question. In September, I bought the game and had 3 pets to choose from: Black Pig, Unicorn Pig and Corgi. I chose Corgi. I thought the animals would be available all the time. After the game started, the remaining animals disappeared from the journal. I thought I would have to unlock their stickers with game progress .A few days ago I bought Pig for heart tokens, but this one is different. If I knew from the beginning what is going on with pets I would choose Black Pig or Unicorn because they can find a rare treat. Currently, I do not have this option. Do I have a chance to get a pet that finds a rare treat? Was it a one-time choice or was it a mistake? My nickname Wiktoria#118.

Rare treats are only used to level up pets that are already on high levels and at that moment they will also be able to find them. So once your Corgi needs the rare treats it can find them too. :)
The two piglets you mentioned were both given exclusively during the early access phase of the game and can’t be unlocked right now. The only thing we changed is that they are not displayed in the pet list for players who don’t own them. Therefore you couldn’t chose them at the start and the only thing that is different now is that you don’t see them in the list anymore to avoid such confusion. Instead we keep on adding new pets to the game, like our little surprise as part of the Halloween event.

Sorry I think I need to disagree with the dev's answer. So far my corgi never need rare treats, and it can't find them too. The max it can get is the uncommon treats. I still haven't got any rare treats.

Thank you for your answer. I have 3 level 10 pets that can find an uncommon treat. The pigs were told that they found a rare treat, so I thought that other animals can't because they don't have found items on the list. I read that a rare treat is best favorite for Mo.
