OTOH I've been slow-rolling my game purchases long before this particular issue came out, on the view that I'd just as soon not be an unpaid beta tester for the company...
I wouldn't even really mind that. Being involved in a franchise you like and contributing to its development isn't really a bad thing. Especially for the indie market. For AAA though that is a good point yeah nevermind. They should take some of the 100's of millions them marinating their taint in profits they make and at least pay more beta testers.
It's just, I don't really know how to describe it the AAA market lost its soul. There's nothing wholesome or good about it in any way and I have no faith in supporting it.
Deus Ex slaps
don't buy the hate for Human Revolution tbh, it has the same undertones but is just pre-apocalypse and you have to pay more attention to dig it up
Yeah man 2000s era games that create a kind of fictional dystopian cyberpunk hyper-greed backdrop are interesting af. I immensely like that kind of imagination. Maybe is why I like Mass Effect so much is because it's that, but what it looks like when all of those have to band together in response to imminent threat.
Agreed. Which is why I am happy to participate in "Early Release" products and even to underwrite KickStarter projects.
But to wind up--actually it's worse than "unpaid," since you've laid your money down for the privilege--doing a multibillion dollar company's QA for them...not any more. Eff those people...especially now that in addition, they want me to pay for the cramdown of an agenda I despise.
Nope, nope, nope. Big Bucket of NOPE.
Heh yep the loss of whatever escapism or fun. "Fix the game bigot!" Really the fun and enthrallment of a franchise you liked f-ed off for some agenda whatever it may be will make you hate whatever that may be and they want your time to do it is an insult unless you're in "the cult."
I guess gaming's just not for us anymore hahah
Or you can "fight" and get banned and ridiculed over it I guess. It's a game in itself kind of forum pvp. And still not understanding why there's opposition to it when gamers were traditionally the defiant bunch.
edit
It's just not fun anymore. It's political. Always has that backdrop.
How do you not realize games shouldn't be some kind of us vs you thing. And the divisiveness of it is unnatural. It's forced and fake. Yet you people eat up the hate fuel and go with it.
How about addressing the point I made?
