Also always have plenty of manual saves, before and after each and every part, so you can go back if a bug forces you or for any other reasons. The auto saves are not good for long term (they get overwritten with recent)

Like talking with the admiral or the citadel, sometimes from your room, but in this case, you have a private secret call, so you can't do that from the bridge, and the game doesn't allow you to open galaxy map, so you can't navigate away.
