Achievements and Play Time Erased?
I played a decent amount in Feb 2024. Got through part 1 and most of 2. Everything was working fine. Life happened, and I haven't played. Just went to play today and realized all my achievements and game time erased? (Steam shows I have 0 hours and no Achievements). I booted up the game to see if it'd "sync" up, but no luck.

I've seen a decent amount of topics on something similar to this but not quite. Has anyone figured out how to get back the steam data? Steam says to contact EA support, but I don't get how it erased the Steam data?

Steam never "erases" your game time, nor your game achievements. The only logical explanation is that you are lying or confused.
Definitely not lying. And I'm definitely confused. All my stuff is gone lol

In the process of getting these screenshots, I've realized the steam overlay is completely disabled when playing the game too. It worked when I was playing it last year. :(

This is so bizarre.
The only bizarre thing is your game library and playtime on Steam is hidden and for some reason you are linking to google drive files.

I'm gonna chalk this up as being a poor bait attempt and move on. Good luck.
Those are screenshots, since you said I was lying. How else do you post screenshots on here? I have no clue, I barely come on to these forums.

And yeah, I just checked my privacy settings and made my library public. I have over 1000 games, I have been using steam since the Half-Life days.

Not sure what a bait attempt is exactly. I'm just trying to find out what the hell is going on.

Now that your stats are public, it's obvious what the truth of the matter is. You have 1 minute of playtime in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. You do have 98.2 hours played in the Original Mass Effect 2 and 52.8 hours played in the original Mass Effect 1, so giving you the maximum amount of benefit of the doubt here, it's possible you got confused thinking you played the Legendary Edition when you were instead playing the OT ME1 and ME2.

Other than that, like I said, Steam doesn't remove game time or achievements, so there is simply no way that happened. On this account, you have a grand total of 1 minute played in MELE and that's that.
That's definitely not the case though. Apparently something happened when EA switched from the Origin app to the EA app. Not sure how it erased my Steam stuff, that's the concerning part. I know the difference between the originals and the Legendary edition (especially with part 1). I was 100% playing the Legendary edition, my saves are still intact, but the stats are gone, which is even weirder. If you look at Mass Effect 2 (2010) in my library it says I last played it in Sep 2012.

I think I'm going to have to contact steam support on this one, because at the end of the day, the EA thing is their issue, but I don't get how it erased my achievements and playtime. It should be around 30+ hours or so.

And there's definitely a way it happened, because it happened to me lol Hoping someone else can shed some light on this.

Again, there is simply no way this can happen, because it would mess with Steam refund policy windows if there was a way for game playtime to be reset. Your claims are 100% erroneous.

For the record, you claim you last played the game in February of 2024 and that everything was fine at that time, yet you simultaneously claim the transition from Origin to EA App is somehow to blame. That can't be the case, because that transition happened all the way back in 2022, so you were already using the EA App in February of 2024. What's more, I bought and played this game in 2021 when it released, still under Origin at the time and my achievements and playtime were not reset when the transition to the EA App happened in 2022.

This all leads me to once again conclude that you are making all of this up, for whatever reason. So, thank you for the entertainment but you should probably take this post down now.
I'm just guessing at this point because I'm annoyed at how this could have happened. Definitely not making this up and I've contacted steam support about it. Thanks anyways. Hopefully someone else will chime in with something more helpful.

Steam Support can't help you with this, because they see what I and everyone else sees when they check your playtime, which is that you played MELE for all of 1 minute and earned no achievements, of course. Not sure what kind of help you are expecting to receive, or what you would consider a "more helpful" response to this. In fact, I don't even know what message you would send Steam Support about this in the first place, since they are in no way responsible for game-specific issues, let alone for issues that never happened lol.

Anyway, I understand your confusion, but all anyone has to go off of here is your own version of events and that is directly contradicted by your public game statistics. So, what is anyone to make of this, other than that you are lying? Oh well, if Steam Support do reply to you with anything useful, do make the effort to update this post, because I've been greatly entertained by your imagination.

I got curious and looked at some older games in my library. I have 0 achievements for Half-Life 2 and only "43 minutes" of game time. When I know for a fact I BOUGHT Half-Life 2 on Steam, played it, and beat it. So either I'm lying about that too, or I'm the best speed runner ever and somehow also disabled my achievements just for fun. It also doesn't have the "last time played date". Computers aren't perfect, and stuff does happen. I'm just trying to figure out what that stuff is so I don't have to start over.

At the very least, even if support can't help me, which they probably won't be able to. I'd at least like them to be aware of it in some way. It can't hurt.

I'll let you know what they say.
Well look who got all their achievements back! Play time not there, but not too worried about that. :steamhappy: I've been doing IT for a long time, computers aren't perfect. But nice try wanna be Sheldon Cooper. Have a good one.

Huh? It seems all you've done is use SteamAchievementManager to unlock a few achievements to make it seem like you ever played the game when you have 1 minute of playtime. You can even see the achievement date listed as May 5th, which is today and all of them unlocked at the exact same time. Very sloppy work by you.

Good job, seems like you have a lot of time on your hands if you're making topics like this to troll. :steamfacepalm:

Who cares about achievements. Achievements are nothing but imaginary numbers with icons attached to them. Learn to enjoy the game for what it is.

Are you going to stop watching movies and reading books next, because they don't give you achievements?
