A Lot of Videos for LE1 -- (upgrades the prerendered cinematics to 60fps 4k resolution)
LE1 Community Patch -- (bug fixes and other important things)
MELLO -- (makes lighting like OG ME1)
Pinnacle Station DLC -- (handcrafted from the ground up to bring back the only missing DLC)
A Lot of Textures (ALOT) -- (textures mod that brings back the original looks, in line with modern resolution. Coupled with MELLO, this creates the perfect remaster.)
^While the above are most important, here's additionally what I used below, which I wish were in the original game:
Advanced Weapon Models for LE1 -- (diversifies weapon skins for various manufacturers, in line with lore).
Galaxy Map Trackers -- (additional trackers, QoL.)
Halcyon Hairpack (LE1) -- (required for Diversification Project)
LE1 Diversification Project -- (expands upon the game in small ways that makes the universe feel more alive. The citadel is more populated, for example, and lore friendly additions from later games, like female turians, can be found.)
N7 Mako -- (tweaks to the Mako that give it more weight, and make it go faster, to speed up uncharted world exploration. QoL.)
Saren Stages -- (gives visual character development to the antagonist, and utilizes his concept art in a fully functional model. One of the more impressive mods here, I use the Alternative settings to have him wear armor on world, and robes when he's on ship, or talking to the council. I find it makes him inconspicuous and similar to how Shepard wears casual crew clothes.)
Unique Moons -- (adds real moon imagery to various uncharted worlds. In-line with the hard sci-fi vision the original devs had.)
Universal N7 Armor -- (a personal favorite, that adds the N7 logo and red arm stripe to most armors Shepard can wear. It always bugged me how the basic Onyx in the original game was the only one with this. I love the look, and the modder painstakingly applied this to every armor professionally. I use the black logo alt, so the N7 text is black on light armors, and white on dark armors.)
XP Rescale (LE1) -- (makes it possible to reach max level in a single playthrough, with four curve variations/difficulties to choose from.)
Have fun!
This LE version is absolutely NOT, NOT, NOT the same. Many others here are saying exactly the same thing. Cute "graphics" doesn't cut it (roll eyeballs). In this version, lots of the conversations, & people are completely MISSING from quests....likely to be "currently politically correct" (vomit). For example, I saved EVERYBODY on the ME2 suicide mission but Jack was totally missing in ME3 Grissom Academy rescue. On & On...
Nexus Mods: I have over 100+ for Fallout-4 and about 80+ for Skyrim. I only install via their Nexus Vortex mod manager. Good luck trying that manually.
I trashed the LE version and replayed the originals 1,2,3 on the Electronic Arts game launcher. Likely the LE marketing folks here will tell me how [blathering idiot remark] I am in order to sell their Legendary Edition S**T. By all means --- DO, DO, DO play the originals
Wow, thank you both! I was hoping for stuff like this, to make it look like the original. I never thought the games looked bad or aged badly! So this is right up my alley.
Well, like I said, I have had trouble to get the original ME1 running on a modern system. And since the LE was less than 5 euros, I went for it. Also, I never got around to picking up ME3, so I thought this was an alright deal, even if the games got changed. I know the Bioware RPG's can be modded after all.
Oh...I am disappointed to read this, people and side quests got removed? Wow. Well, like I said, I picked this up becaue I couldn't get the first game to run properly on my modern systems. Feel free to friend me or leave a message about my profile about this, I'd love to hear more about missing things in this LE version.
Pinnacle Station DLC in ME1, because Bioware lost the source code from the third party developer.
and
Miranda's butt camera angles in ME2.
There are mods that reincorporate both of these.
Hacking in LE1 is also hacking from the ME1 PC, which was new to me, since I played through the 360 version a few times.
ME1 combat UI is closer to ME2 & 3, which is fine.
Also, the enemies are not bullet sponge ragdolls on Insanity, as they were in ME1. In LE1, the Insanity balance is more in line with the sequels, which makes me happy. I don't miss unloading ammo into a single ragdolling (throw + knockback rounds) enemy for a solid thirty seconds to kill him, as I had to do on the console.
LE1 also gives every class basic weapon proficiency, so we can actually use all 4 weapons, even if we don't have points invested into them.
Honestly, once you get the mods going, the Legendary Edition is superior.
Console is only better to 'pick up and play'.
I'd compare it to Skryim PC vs Skyrim console, now.
WTH? These days even remasters are taking the knee to current year fads? I got LE for free on Origin a while back, never bothered to play it (I loved the original games, but ME3 original 3 color ending just killed it for me) and then recently bought it on Steam sale. Looks like I won't be playing LE anytime soon, if ever
One more thing. Back in the day all important discussions happened on Bioware Social Network forums. That is before EA decided to shut them down to save some money. I think most of the important stuff was saved, but not all. Now unofficial fan made BSN forums are located here https://bsn.boards.net/
