iam still playing ME1 but was just wondering in which ME game can we cure the genophage and is there any side effects that'll come back to bite me if i do cure it

The theme about genophage cure will run well into ME3. You'll need to be careful about your choices in ME2.

which choice? cause iam one of the few that actually likes the krogan i dont wanna lose my meatshield

If you played original, you know. If not, well, you will know when the time comes. Just play the game.

it just means i'll have to make lots of save states when i start ME2

In this trilogy, you will eventually have to choose whether or not to cure the genophage, regardless of what happens in ME1. But you will not learn what the long term consequences are.

If this is your first time playing through, you are really doing yourself a disservice by spoiling it this early on.

it starts with Mordin in ME2. In ME3 it involves one companion from ME1 (If they survived) and one companion from ME2 (if they survived). Both can't survive a playthrough, your choice will cause one of them to die in ME3. :) Good luck~

Or you can make them both die in ME3.

You can easily cure the genofage in ME3, however if you want to get the best ending (hints below, watch on your own risk):
- ME1: keep Wrex alive
- ME2: keep Melon's data

Only side quest you need to be careful about is in ME2.... Depending on your choice some charcters die.
