Origin In-Game overlay refuses to turn off [solved]
I have no complaints about the game itself, but something is driving me crazy and any suggestions would be appreciated. Origin is the dumbest platform created in the history of ever and I despise it with a passion. I understand that EA has to ruin everyone's fun because that's just their nature, but there has to be some kind of limit. I've tried disabling Origin In-Game overlay from "Application Settings" 100 times and it's still active when I launch the game. I tried disabling the overlay directly from Mass Effect legendary edition's game properties and it's still active when I launch the game. It's disabled in the settings but enabled as soon as I run the game. What kind of occult ritual is required to turn this overlay off for good? Like, I just want this stupid overlay off so I can at least "pretend" that I'm playing this game on Steam. I apologize if this post sounds/feels snappy, but I have only one wish - to disable this dumb overlay that's been infamous for creating bizarre unexplained FPS drops since the dawn of time. Thank you.

I have the same issue. It's definitely annoying.

I sent an error report via Origin and posted in their Answer HQ. I don't even use it for games I just play on Origin for how buggy it is.

Did you disable both the launcher and in game?

Yes :/

Killing the origin.exe process via the taskmanager after you started the game (not the launcher) might work. It's an annoying solution though.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Now that is clever - anyone else tried this and seeing if it helps?

I actually deleted the file and have not had any issues whatsoever. The overlay is gone.

The overlay is gone (You can't access it) but it still pops up if you get an achievement....

It's annoying seeing Origin + Steam achievements :/

I second this :( It's annoying as hell... but hey, as long as the lags related to the overlay go away - I'll weep tears of happiness. Here's to hoping that they do go away.

YESSS - it works - love it.
Just renamed the DLL and that annoying buggar is gone.

Also I thought it was rather cute they ghost the option in the control panel in origin - talk about EA being an total ass.

Updates may overwrite this - but at least I know where it is and its easy to find.

The option is there as long as you don't have controlled access turned on or are already in game, it just doesn't seem to work...
