you find more than enough...
For clarification, in the original ME1 spectre gear unlocked after acquiring 1 million credits. The Spectre gear X unlocked after reaching level 50.
Can you check Which leveling system you are using? If you use the new one, switch to the old one and reload your game and/or leave and enter the citadel (not CSec, the whole citadel).
Plus they look cool and what else are you going to spend credits on?
Originally I had been playing with the Legendary level scaling.
I followed your suggestion and switched to classic, left the citidel, and came back (I went to a completely different system, the one with Noveria in it). Still no Spectre gear upon my return.
I tried it on 2 different saves, one from right after I became a Spectre and my more recent one where I have 1 million credits, neither save has access to Spectre gear.
There has got to be some other trigger that is making it disappear that most people aren't hitting until after they get 1 million credits, and maybe I have hit it early, I'm not sure. All I know for sure is that I have no access to Spectre gear regardless of the level scaling I am using and the amount of credits I have.
You can pretty easily savescum to get the NRO to sell colossus/predator armour which can cost a decent amount if you care to and can be bothered depending on who you're equipping. NRO has a different stock per level for the Citadel, Feros, Noveria and Uncharted so if you do want to buy anything you can jump around for it. Just save before you talk to him per location. Can get amps and omni tools the same way if you got the licenses.
Now that we got headshots though the game's pretty easy even on insanity, at least with snipers, so it's really not necessary.
I think it might be a glitch in the way shops stock when you level up since the spectre stuff isn't level scaled but not sure. The X versions have shown up for me though. I'm before Ilos but also hit level 50 before looking so not sure if it's progression or levels. It was 50 in the original so probably that but could have changed. Found them in NRO and CSec so I'm guessing they aren't glitched.
This is possible, but I lean more toward some specific action being linked to the items vanishing. I say this because I used a save where I had just become a spectre and there were no spectre items available. To be fair, I do not recall whether or not I leveled up after becoming a spectre from doing citadel stuff, but I don't think that I would have.
The restocking thing is interesting though and could very well be the cause. It's hard to tell at this point, my only point of confusion on that comes from not being offered Spectre gear at all, like, the conversation I have with the C sec guy on this save file is the one where he notes that I am a spectre for the first time. Im going to look at my achievements and see if my save file time and achieve unlock for spectre correlate at all.
I'll find out when I get there.
So after looking at various save files, it is possible that I leveled after becoming a spectre and before talking to the c sec guy. I do not know for sure that I did, but I might load a save even further back and become a spectre again, and then see if the gear is offered. Will update the post with my findings.
Well no one really knows for sure in Legendary edition. What we do know is how they were unlocked in the original game, which is reaching 1 million credits for the first set, and then hitting level 50 for the X set.
