ME1 Can't use skills in quick slots

As in the title, I can assign skills to quick slots and use them from squad wheel but pressing number keys associated with the slot does nothing. Anyone had similar problem?

Sometimes it happened to me, I just reloaded a save and it worked like normal.

Its working for me. Are you dragging the skill from the bottom to the empty skill slots on the upper left? Those are the ones that work with the number keys.

Weird, after reloading couple of times it actually started to work properly. My guess is it might have something to do with me switching between controller and keyboard from time to time. Thanks for the tips guys.

this is happening to me but with the "E" key of all things. So far i haven't been able to open a medical box or investigate a dead NPC. I had to trigger talking to Ashley by walking away from her. I just saved and quit until I can find a fix, since the action button is a big part of the game.

In ME:1, the action key is not E. Its spacebar.

I would recommend a trip to the keybind settings page.
