Stuttering
Alright, so for some reason whenever I give the game ANY type of input (pushing a button, clicking, etc...) the game freezes for like two or three seconds. It took me like three minutes just to make a custom Shepard (a process which usually takes 30 seconds or less since I usually know what kind of Shepard I want to play). Same with the pause menu.

>Click "Start new game."
>Freeze for three seconds
>Create name.
>Freeze for three seconds on every letter I type.

I want to point out that I had this issue with Unreal Tournament 3, and I eventually gave up because I couldn't find a solution. I really hope this isn't the problem because I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥ otherwise. Any help would be appreciated.

SPECS:
Windows 10 home (64-bit)
CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
RAM - 32.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1066MHz
Motherboard - MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
PSU - Corsair CX650M

same issues here man, probably a game engine bug. Will probably have to wait for a patch

Can you confirm if you have the same issue with Mass Effect 2? I am playing through the prologue with no issue whatsoever. This seems to be a Mass Effect 1 issue.

I would start by trying to set your CPU Core Affinity to just 8 cores and see if that helps at all.

I have the exact same issue, plugging in a game pad fixed this but I'm not going to play with a game pad, I got it on PC for a reason.
Ozone May 14, 2021 @ 6:04pm
Changing Core affinity did not work. I will try Dralora's controller solution and report back momentarily.
Ozone May 14, 2021 @ 6:10pm
Can Confirm plugging in a gamepad fixed this issue, although the loading screen still stutters a bit. Thanks Dralora, you are a lifesaver.

I haven't tried mass effect 2 yet, i'm starting from the beginning, but for sure Mass Effect 1 has some technical issues. I have a stutter constantly no matter where I go or what I do. It's very random and does not let up. I also play with a controller. I have an RTX 3090 with a Ryzen 9, shouldn't be having these microstutter issues so I guess waiting for a patch is the only choice.

Yeahhh. I prefer Mouse and Keyboard for this I will have to wait too. This doesn't seem like an issue that is prevalent among the playerbase so I doubt BioWare even knows it exists. Might have to e-mail them or file a support ticket if they have a system for that.

I don't think I can reach out to BioWare directly. We could try the EA forums but I doubt they'd be helpful at all. These issues usually have the most obscure solutions ever. Trial and Error seems like our best bet at this point :/

Well, i am still on the trail and error part.

What i have tried:
- update drivers.
- disconnect all other peripherals (VR headset, steam controller, flight sticks)
- disconnect the problematic peripherals causing the input lag and reconnecting (mouse, keyboard)
- disabling antivirus
- disabling mouse drivers
- closing all background programs
- looking for remnants of razer software (someone in this forum mentioned it would cause problems)

none seem to work. this is really frustrating.

I will reach out to Electronic Arts in a while. Have you tried the controller?

yeah, its the same as with OPs issue. controller works fine, just keyboard inputs and any mouse input other than moving the cursor causes the lag.
Thank you for contacting them, pls keep us posted! :)
