Also, you can't specialize in them so it will fall behind when it comes to damage and skills.
Was reading the changes made to ME1 and saw that they removed Sniper sway and make all classes able to use all weapons. To me, that was disappointing to read.
Class based weapon usage was a big part of using specific character classes well in ME. It meant that rather than swapping to a different weapon if your class could only use a pistol, you would have to rely on the very things that made that class stand out, like biotic abilities.
I understand that you may not be able to upgrade those weapon skills not included in your character class, which I guess is fair. But why make the change at all and not just stick to the original feel?
Sniper sway gets me the most though. The satisfaction of making a good sniper shot while working with the sway was palpable. Sway reduced as you trained and got better weapons as well. Also not sure why that was changed. Just seems to make snipers easier now and removes a certain feel. Plus, all you had to do was wait for the reticle to move back over the target as the sway was predictable.
Oh well.
I just played the game the usage of other weapons feels great in my opinion.
