The real question is why does a single gender race look hot to all alien races and genders.

I'm sure it has nothing at all to do with their mental powers and don't really look like Cthulhu.

One more theory is that each race perceives the Asari in whatever form they consider attractive. Since you are human Shepard, you perceive them as attractive women. As you are clearly implying :)
