Game crashing on Eden Prime on Mass Effect 1

[Syndrome]

I just reached the train to the spaceport. After killing all the geth on the train I reach on the train console where it says "Train Controls Activate". As soon I press spacebar to activate it I get a loading screen and the game just crashes. Any fixes for this?
