Wrex/Ashley
Miranda/Grunt
Garrus/Vega
In terms of how much I like them:
Garrus/Wrex (Bad cop and badder cop)
Jack/Miranda (Angry bad b*tch and icy bad b*tch)
Javik/Anyone (The fallen hero, help him regain his hope and respect for primitives, or just let him spiral into depression and do an hero.)
So my view of point so far in MELE ... insanity gameplay.
Soldier gameplay:
ME1: early Garrus,Kaidan/(after wirmire, and obtaining Liara) Liara and Garrus.
(Liaras biotics and Garrus AR and for opening lockers etc..)
ME2: Early Miranda, Zaeed and then Garrur, Zaeed(i just like how they use Mattocks. also one aoe overload and Zaeeds grenade, concussive shot).
Me3:
Engineer gameplay:
ME1: early Ashley,Kaidan/(after wirmire and obtaining Liara) Liara and Kaidan.
(Liaras Biotics, AR and Kaidan for opening a lockboxs and just for human companion)
ME2: Miranda, Zaeed/ Garrus and Zaeed.
(Mirandas overload and damage buff, and later just mattocks and overload,Grenade).
ME3:
..also in playing either Adept or Infilrator. It goes like above pretty much.
ME1: Liara, Garrus, Wrex, Ashley
ME2: Miranda, Garrus, Samara, Grunt, Legion
ME3: Liara, Garrus, Javik, EDI
There's a suspicious lack of Tali in this post.
She is at the bottom of my tier list of squadmates.
ME1: Garrus & Wrex
ME2: Grunt & Zaeed
ME3: Javik & james
Andromeda : Jaal & Drack
ME1: If you have Barrier it doesn't matter. you're virtually unkillable. Liara is consistently great here. My last Insanity playthrough i used Liara/Tali all game and it was fairly straightforward.
Me2: It's all about the defence stripping here, with every enemy in the game having at least 1 of the 3 defences, so Miranda is hard to top with both overload and warp. With that in mind anyone is useable as your team are just defence strippers, you'll do most of the killing yourself.
Special shout out to Kasumi, her flash bang is actually insane for any collector mission. It drops husks in 1 and it full on stops harbinger from being able to fire at all. stealth doesn't see much use on Insanity due to shields and armor being everywhere but it's still the best finish off ability in the game. All things considered you could run Miranda/Anyone all game and get by fine.
ME3: Anyone that can carry the Typhoon, it's broken in squadmates hands.
Garrus/Grunt in ME2 to balance out sniper support with up close and personal Grunt
Kaidan/Garrus in ME3, bc reasons.
Use other combos when games force me to. Otherwise, wouldn't even bother.
Tali sucks throughout the trilogy.
Best team for insanity :
ME1 :
garrus (best decryption/electronics bot, with sniper 12)
Liara if you don't have powers yourself for CC, or whatever with good weapon skills like ashley/wrex.
Any combo is viable with high lvl geared characters.
ME2 :
Miranda (team bonus, overcharge for shields)
Kasumi (Complete powercreep. Shadow strike makes her invulnerable during the entire animation, flash grenades are the best instant AOE CC in the game).
Those 2 can't be topped, other combos will always be subpar.
ME3 : whatever with N7 typhon * 2

she can open boxes in ME1 so why not. Classes dont matter as much in ME1. biotic CC can greatly help for early insanity and you need a can opener but once you have gear everything will perform the same.
Have to agree with this statement. I had to force myself to bring Tali along just to see what flavour lines she gets during missions, and none of them were interesting enough to outweigh the fact that almost any other character is more useful than she is.
I don't hate Tali, but I have virtually no use for her and she has never been a "game-changer" when it comes to battles. Unless you're fighting Geth, literally any other character is more useful... and even if you are fighting Geth, you're better off with someone else.
The only reason to use Tali is if you want her just for the character to be part of the squad. If you're going for the best squad in terms of damage output, crowd control, and other purely combat-related considerations, then Tali is not even in the top three. I'll take EDI over Tali in ME3 any day, and EDI's also low on my list of characters to pick.
Miranda is probably the most useful character for stripping defenses alone, and if she was a companion in all three games, she'd be a permanent part of my team no matter what class I'm playing. As it stands, I'll pick squadmates that have skills Shepard lacks (like Garrus for overload in ME2 and ME3, if I'm playing a class that doesn't have it).
I'm not attached to any one squad-mate so much that I'll always pick them, every playthrough. There are a few that I dislike enough that I ditch them as soon as I can, like Jacob and Kaiden. I did one playthrough with Tali across all three games to really try to understand why everyone gushes over her, and honestly... I don't get it and likely never will.
