What is the strongest class to play in 1, 2 and 3?

Sentinel,very tanky in ME 2 and 3.

In ME1 Adept past early game.

Full barrier+full bastion(self regening barrier)can tank very well on insanity difficulty.
+you can crow control almost everything.

It seems like they nerfed pistols in ME1 otherwise I'd say adept for sure, but they may have cemented soldier as the best due to the various changes

But yeah, probably soldier or adept in ME1, then IMO sentinel (defensive), soldier (all around) or infiltrator (to take down damage sponges) in 2 and 3

If you want to stay as the same class for a full play through, Sentinel is probably the strongest all around option for all three games. Adept is really good too, but if you play on Hardcore/Insanity in ME2 it can be rather rough since everything has extra defenses and most of your powers don't work until those are stripped.

Which is strongest is going to depend on your own skill set. If you're good at shooting, then soldier/infiltrator will be strong. On the other hand, if, like me, you have terrible aim, then adept is perfect, as aiming is much less important, particularly in ME3 when you can complete almost the entire game without firing a single shot.

Furthermore, all classes are easily capable of completing all three games at insanity level.

You will be filled with many sighs if you try to start ME1 as an engineer on insanity though

ME1: Anything with a barrier and a weapon specialization.
ME2: Anything with cryo-ammo using the Mattock
ME3: Vanguard

It depends on what you mean by "Strongest." If you mean what class can deal the most damage with a single attack, Infiltrator is the strongest. A cloaked head shot with a sniper rifle can take down enemies in one hit probably 95% of the time... Assuming you hit, of course. And it can get very hard to hit someone moving around in the head while you are zoomed in with your scope and you are also moving around.
