ME2 Reaper IFF countdown save everyone: 1 or 2 missions?

After the IFF mission, you have a countdown. And I'm wondering, if I want to save everyone (nameless crew included), is the IFF countdown 1 or 2 missions? Asking because I keep seeing people say to bring Legion on Tali's loyalty mission, but I also want to do Legion's loyalty mission before the final mission.

They say you can do two but I have always only kept Legion's mission and that is it.

Same but apparently I've missed out on a lot of extra dialogue for not bringing Legion on Tali's loyalty mission

Make a save before IFF and legion then keep Tali's and Legion's loyalty and see how it goes. if it does not work go back to that earlier save.

You can do both Legion and Tali's loyalty missions before the crew is abducted while taking Legion on Tali's mission and vice versa and still save your entire crew. I did both her and Legion's missions and saved everyone last week and brought Legion to the flotilla for the dialogue/lore.

How?

Do everything you want up to the IFF but don't do Tali's mission. Do have it unlocked and ready to go though.

Do IFF mission.

Activate Legion immediately and have initial conversations with it on the ship before touching the galaxy map.

Take it with you on Tali's mission for the dialogue/lore.

After that's done it'll want to speak to you on the ship, unlocking it's mission. Talk to it and get its mission unlocked before touching the galaxy map.

After you do his mission the IFF will be finished installing and your crew abducted.

Go through Omega 4 Relay. No delays. No going to stores or mining or faffing about, just go.

If you follow this you will save your whole crew and get to take Legion to the flotilla and get all the squad's loyalty before the suicide mission.

If you want to unlock all of Legions conversations save a few side quests for after the suicide mission too. You generally get a new conversation after every mission like the rest of the squadmates.

You can not do this if you haven't already recruited Tali and gotten her mission unlocked before doing IFF. It takes time from getting her until the news she's being criminal charged happens (time your captured crew doesn't have to spare if you want to save them all). You must already have her on the ship and the option to go to the flotilla unlocked when you go to the IFF or you won't have enough time to do both.

I did see guides on it and this play through I am going to try it but I will still make an extra save just in case someone dies.

Bringing Legion on Tali loyalty mission was gold: Shep tells Tali "You sent active geth parts to your father. How could you be so careless?" ... while Legion stands right there Hypocrisy of 9000 level.

I am going to try it . I have recorded the number of my save before IFF. I saved Tali's loyalty mission only. Done every side quest and DLC except Arrival. I will get Legion do Tali's loyalty mission then Legion's loyalty mission and then suicide mission. I will take Tali to Legion's and Legion to Tali's loyalty mission.

My weapon, tech and biotic skills are at 5/5 and some are at 6/6. So quite ready to kick ass and take names.

It worked for me, but something I keep hearing: don't approach galaxy map after first acquiring Legion, apparently it runs a check for the timer when you approach the galaxy map. After the conversation in the meeting room right after the IFF mission, immediately go to the elevator to talk to Legion, stay away from the galaxy map, hug the wall if you have to when going to the elevator. I'm not sure if this all is actually true, but I keep seeing this said.

AFAIK, the number is supposed to be random, but for me, the IFF mission triggers the countdown and it's ALWAYS the 5th stop I try to make that causes the Collectors to attack. This means you can do 4 missions. Note that going to any location where you leave the ship IS a mission according to the countdown timer. This includes going to the Citadel. The 5th time I interact with the Galaxy Map, and select a location to go to is when I get the attack.

What I always do is get all the missions done that I want done, before doing the IFF mission. Now, this is important. If you want to see interesting dialogue on Tali's mission, do her loyalty mission after the IFF mission, and take Legion with you. When I want that dialogue, that's the only time I wait do Tali's loyalty mission. One benefit of this is that Legion and Tali make a great team vs Geth, because they can both hack, which acts as crowd control. Thus, I always save the Overlord mission until after the IFF mission. Tali and Legion Loyalty missions, and then the Overlord mission. This works best for me on Insanity runs.

After that, I do a stop at a location to buy a part I may have missed, if I missed one. Then do one more stop that gets interrupted by the attack. Then, after the attack, I go immediately to the Omega Relay and start the Suicide Mission.

Note that some people have told me they did not get this many missions. I do not know why, but the wiki says there is no set number. I don't know why I have always been able to do 4 missions, but I have.

It won't trigger if you have one loyalty mission. So after you do Tali's loyalty step off the platform and immediately get Legion's loyalty mission so that when you open the galaxy map it will notice that loyalty mission and it won't trigger. After you finish Legion's avoid the platform until you're ready to trigger the kidnappings, so if you want to research anything skirt the very edge and go to the lab.

Apparently you cannot even go shopping once the crew is kidnapped as it will kill the crew. Like go to Tuchanka to buy the shotgun upgrade.
