Come on EA
Is there any point to owning the game on steam instead of EA? Even though i own the game on steam, it HAS to be booted from the EA launcher, which means none of the steam settings apply, no top left fps counter, no shift tab to open messages or anything, its basically like I'm not even buying it on steam when i purchase it.

Works fine for me; shift+tab brings up the Steam overlay as usual and f12 takes screenshots normally.

Steam overlay doesn't work for me either no matter what I've tried so far.

I'm not spreading misinformation. I'm not an EA alt. There's nothing to fix because nothing is broken. If it's not working for you, something is wrong on your end.

Because you accused me, and others who also said it works, of spreading misinformation I recorded a video showing both the Steam overlay and f12 screenshot feature working.
(Only issue is the screen will freeze-frame for 1 second each time I exit the Steam Overlay.)

Well, i'm not sure how to record a video of it NOT working because it simply doesn't COME UP. If its an actual issue for EA to fix for some users, then let them FIX IT. If its still an issue for many, then the problem still stands and it doesnt matter at all that yours works, because mine doesn't. Three different ways of saying the same thing lmao.

I will however apologize for accusing you of misinformation, because i just assumed you were another EA alt trying to donwplay my problem. I have little faith or trust for any corporation.

Did you link your Steam and EA App accounts?

I can now confirm that the Steam overlay does indeed work flawlessly with this game. If it doesn't, its on the user's end. Steam and EA must both be ran with admin privileges.

I just looked if iam logged in into the ea app, but iam not. So i dont think you need an ea account
The only thing i could think of is install the ea app and make sure windows start it with admin rights, also make sure steam starts with adin rights.

edit: just locked again, MELE is linked in the ea app with "access over steam". so maybe you need to login and link the game

I tried many things but still it's same, I tried to delete ae but whenever I click "play" the steam is not playing only ea opening and that's all , loading and disappear 😮‍💨
It can be a number of things causing this and it's difficult to tell what solution may work for YOU and YOUR system.

I would suggest starting here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-Legendary-Edition/Unable-To-Launch-Game-Through-Steam-EA-App/td-p/12442581

Read/try all the comments/troubleshooting here and see if anything helps.

I never had any issues myself. It played just fine back on Origin and I've had no issues so far through Steam and EA App. I wish we could just play it here on Steam without having to bother with another launcher but it is what it is unfortunately.

Yea this whole thing sucks, I hope you find a solution.

This is from an unofficial reply over at EA AHQ. I can't confirm if this is accurate or not but I'll quote it here just in case for those on older systems:

Unfortunately LE1 & LE2 will not run on CPUs with only 2 physical or logical cores. (You need 4 logical cores.)

This is for the Legendary Edition so make sure that you meet the minimum requirements or there is a chance that you won't be able to run the game at all.

Windows minimum requirements
OS: 64-bit Windows 10
Processor (AMD): FX-8350 or Equivalent
Processor (Intel): Core i5 3570 or Equivalent
Memory: 8 GB
Graphics card (AMD): Radeon 7970 / R9280X or Equivalent
Graphics card (NVIDIA): GTX 760 or Equivalent
DirectX: 11 Compatible video card or equivalent
Hard-drive space: 120 GB

It works okay for me. The only thing I hate is, it takes a good minute for the game to launch and get on screen.

I remember games would be up and running in a instant once you double click it on the desktop.

Lots of things seems like that. Idk. Maybe I'm trippin.

Heh. Some of us are old enough to remember inserting the floppy disk, typing the proper command at the c:\ prompt, then waiting patiently (or not so patiently...) for the game to load from the floppy. :steambored:

"...double click it on the desktop," what is that ?!? :steamhappy:

Use this guide, these steps solved it for me - make sure to scroll down to the end: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2935989297

Basically, the game launches through the EA App out of the box, which makes Steam unable to hook into the executable and because of that, the Steam overlay does not work.
Uninstalling the EA App and swapping it with an old Origin client version (and making that unable to update) resolves this.
My main issue was not being able to use Remote Play to stream the game to my TV, now I can :)
