ME1:LE changes from original
First time playing ME:LE after having played the original trilogy decades ago. It seems ME1 has the most changes. Some questions:

1. With respect to weapons, there seems to be minimal accuracy penalty for being untrained in a weapon. Is it worth it still to invest in a weapon past the first active ability (assassination, carnage, etc)? The accuracy bonus seems minimal, since I can use a sniper rifle unaimed at point blank range like a shotgun, and it seems more efficient to gain accuracy via better gear. The damage component is only +20% or so, better to focus maybe on class passive and spectre training?

2. Again with weapons, what happened to pistols? Marksman is shorter duration and doesn't increase rate of fire. In the original, a pistol with master marksman could out shoot a rifle with 100% uptime and rate of fire only limited by how fast you can click. Pistols still worth it?

3. Is warp still worth it? In the original, warp was important on insanity to bust through immunity spamming enemies. Now with a 6 second cap, I can just biotic them until it runs out and blast them after.

4. Why fight anything on foot? In the original taking Geth armatures and Threshers on foot was essential to max out XP. Now might as well beat everything in the Mako and save foot combat for indoors areas. It sure makes the turrrets in BDS much easier to deal with.

I suggest for you to ignore the meta, min maxing and just having fun. Maybe roleplay a bit? Enjoy the storyline?

I did Medic (subclass of Engineer) playthrough on LE1 (first playthrough since I finished ME1 in 2013) and had lot's of fun despite the fact that I knew that it was a bad class meta wise (I played as meta Soldier back in 2013).

"Why fight anything on foot?"

Speaking only for myself, it would never have occurred to me to do so when you could fight them from the (relative) safety of the MAKO. Of course, with Thresher Maws, the safety level was only relative, but I'm guessing that if you got hit by acid spit while on foot it would be a whole lot worse than while in the MAKO.

And at least with the MAKO you could cheese the Thresher Maw fights by driving outside its threat radius--it helped to dismount the vehicle--and doing a save-and-reload to repair your vehicle when it got too damaged.

And--honestly--I didn't even realize there was an XP penalty for fighting from the MAKO. But I can say with absolute epistemic certainty that it wouldn't have given me even the slightest incentive to change my vehicular-centric tactics.

1) Your accuracy is largely on you, but your teammates accuracy is noticeable as you level them up. You'll see Garrus shooting mercs more and cover less. I tend to get every skill up to the second ability rank (advanced) as a minimum.

2) Also playing as a medic sentinel, but pistols are pretty decent. Just using the Spectre gear as a baseline (HMW equipment) the pistol is comparable damage wise to the assault rifle, but you *seriously* have to work on overheating it. You can full auto the rifle, mag dump the shotgun, and pop off the sniper and overheat, but my pistol is a never ending death dispenser.

3) I may be a sentinel, but I play like a pistol soldier. I don't use my powers too much in ME1 when shooting them is faster and less of a hassle. That said, the powers do work when you remember they exist, or bring teammates to do it for you.

4) I can't run over armatures or colossi (bullying them) while I'm on foot. Just tap them with your bumper and shoot them while they ragdoll and struggle to stand up.

That was the strategy in OG ME1. Knock 'em over, jump out the Mako and blast them while they stand up.

Are you sure companions are affected by accuracy, I seem to remember heat and accuracy did not affect them.

LE1 has indeed been changed.

In ME1 I pretty much only used the pistol with marksman.
LE1 I was able to use an AR with no class skills, just tapping on the trigger every half second with reasonable accuracy. Also sniper, just shooting when the gun allowed the inaccuracy wouldn't become overbearing until the third shot, at which point its gonna overheat anyways. Later I found a "Volkolov" automatic sniper rifle and was able to use it like the AR, scope in, tap tap tap tap tap dead. Just don't try to hold the trigger for constant fire, and every weapon is now bearable vs 120 degree cone of comical inaccuracy.

LE1 warp is not really necessary anymore. Enemies DO pop immunity still, at which point you should start shooting another enemy to make them use immunity, then shift fire back to target 1. It does help vs Krogan enemies, but there are so few and you can use lift, throw, stasis, a grenade or HE shotgun.

LE vehicle combats, yeah pretty much stay in the Mako now. Doing the Liara pickup mission grants like 7 levels now, it just throws like 20 armatures and some colossi at you: I wish I did it before doing all the random system exploration and sidequests which was my old way of leveling.

Are wepaon bonus talents still worth it for the weapons light classes (adept, engineer and sentinel)?

If you want to hold down the trigger and go full auto mode with the AR, sure, but you can use anything with the right pacing now.
