MELE SERIES CRASHING
I have been a big ME gamer since xbox, now that I’m on pc, I was truly loving the experience. Granted, its been a couple years since I last played but noticed the origin launcher was replaced by EA. I spent two weeks trying to get through ME1 but the game keeps crashing. At first I thought it was my pc.. Nope, pc is running perfectly even through the game crash. No data logs for the crash. Checked the mods I had just installed for Talis revamp. Nope, nothing there either. Finally after two weeks and getting more and more angry. ME crashed 10mins into playing. Decided to move to ME2 and bypass using Genesis comic for my choices. Once past character customization, ME2 crashed. Suffix to say, i need a new tv and controller due to my rage boiled over.

What is causing the pc versions of MELE to consistently crash across the series? And why?

sorry to hear about your frustrations...

honestly, though... check that your GPU drivers are updated from the manufacturer's site, not the windows stuff that is generally out of date... maybe use "game ready" drivers if offered for your GPU... if you have overlay or image modification injectors in place, disable or remove them... ReShade and similar injectors are known to cause problems as are overlays like the EA and Steam overlays...

the only other thing i can think of is audio settings... at least one (set of?) games has problems with audio set too high... like 48khz or faster... for some reason, they're very sensitive about it...

aside from that, i guess you have looked at the windows (assuming you are running windows) event log when you have had one of these crashes? there should be something in there that may point the way to the defect you are running into...

Pro Tip: place a LEXAN shield in front of your TV/monitor to protect it from thrown controllers, thrown keyboards, and weapon fire slinging hot lead in its direction :steamhappy::steamhappy::steammocking:

Ive checked everything when the crashes started happening. Checked for outdated drivers and had nothing, tried tweaking for lower end resolution and sounds and it still kept doing the same thing. Removed my Tali revamp mod and tried again and still keeps crashing. Started doing some research and found others have been having similar issues and it was due to the EA launcher. Something about memory leaks.

FWIW: it might also be beneficial to grab a copy of memtest86+ and run the full suite of memory tests... it is possible a memory stick may be going bad or perhaps they need to be reseated to regain a full solid connection with the slot connectors...

when i was doing a lot more tech support than i am these days, one of the first things we did after attempting triage and not finding anything obvious was to reseat all the cards... in many cases this ""fixed"" the problem... sometimes the cards or memory sticks had developed oxidation on the contacts or had wiggled out of contact from heating/cooling cycles as the machine was used...

memtest86+ comes in various packages but the main idea is that you get it onto a thumbdrive or CD and boot the system with it so it can test all of the memory without any OS getting in the way... yes it may take a long while to run a full pass of all tests... the more memory in the machine the longer the tests will take... but yeah, get it booted and let it run... if it finds anything, it will definitely let you know...

I built my computer and ran all kinds of tests on it before playing games. Checked every piece of software and all my hardware. Nothing came up with an error. Ran some of my other games and it did just fine. BloodRayne, snowrunner, halo, and various other games. Mass effect and a couple others were the only ones effected by the crashing.

Oddly enough the titles that were being affected are EA titles and only the EA titles. Anything else was running perfectly normal so my build and software isnt the issue

I've had zero crashes. But I don't use any mods either.

I have only one mod and thats the Tali revamp. Shows her face. Tried removing the mod but the game still crashes. Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but the issue persists. The time between crashes is random between 10-30 mins of gaming. Tried going through ME2LE and didnt make it through the intro before it crashed

Have You checked Event Viewer to see the error message when it crashes?

Errorruntimeealaun.exe

Thats all i can remember from the error report, this same error happens across some games when the ea launcher comes up to initialize the game
