EA App Keeps Crashing
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is probably a great game, shame that I may never find out.

I purchased the game on Steam, installed it. When I launched it, I was prompted to create an EA Account, which I did and on request linked it to my Steam Account.

But then I get a 'preparing game' progress bar, which then disappears and after a short while I get

"The app has crashed unexpectedly. We ran into a problem, but a quick restart should fix it"

But the restart does not fix it.

Nor does completely shutting down my PC and restarting.

Every time I attempt to run the game I get the same result 'preparing game' and then the EA App crashes.

Any ideas? Because as it stands, Steam has sold me a game which EA prevents me from playing.

Found this

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/AWARE-quot-The-app-crashed-unexpectedly-quot-error-in-EA-app/m-p/13466906

This has 68 pages of people saying the same thing. Apparently has been going on since Wednesday 7th February and that EA are aware of the problem but clearly aren't in any hurry to resolve it.

I bought this with Steam, didn't work, got a refund.
I bought it with EA, couldn't download it...

WTF

Me too! EA notification even said that my save file would be deleted if I didn't wait 5mins before trying again. I wish EA would allow us to actually access our games locally rather than holding them hostage.

What really annoys me about companies like Steam and EA is their lax attitude to Customer Support. They are more than happy to take your money but don't provide any support other than deferring it to the community.

I have bought a game that will not run, Steam had absolutely no problem taking my money, but in partnership with EA will not let me play it.

I want to be able to raise support tickets on EA or Steam or both, but neither organisations let me do that. Pretty poor show.

Yes I know that Steam will let me refund - but I don't want that, I want to play the game that I bought, and I want to be able to report that there is a problem.

Same here.........this is so damn frustrating. Buying this on Steam only to then require a third party app is the most annoying part. just nuts. If not resolved soon I will be requesting a refund and finding something that actually works. Come EA get your act together.

It's an issue with new registrations linked from steam to whatever EA is using. If you've already linked ownership you can play, but people who just purchased it (Like myself too) can't due to this issue. They're aware and are obviously working on it, but honestly, it's a really poor job to have this be the case for 3 days now.

Try to move the installtion folder into other drive.

It works for me.

Found the Fix! after trying everything today

1.) Uninstall EA app

2.) Restart PC

3.) Launch another EA game First ( For example It Takes Two)

4.) Let it install EA

5.) Close Previous game and now launch Mass effect to trigger it as in your library

Confirm if this fixed the issue

Just opened up my EA App and noticed that Mass Effect is now appearing in the library. So tried launching it from Steam and it now runs.

Looks like they have fixed the problem - or, at least, are working through accounts and fixing them.
