Did they ever "fix" the endings?
Title. I never finished ME3 because I read about the endings and I don't want some bleak crap after spending dozens or hundreds of hours on a trilogy. So did the game ever get an ending that doesn't outright suck or is it still "you're dead, everything sucks, screw you"?

Without spoiling anything: sort of. Yes in their mind, but no ending was going to satisfy everyone regardless. There are options now.

I haven't finished the ME3 part of my playthrough yet, but the old multiplayer mode that allowed farming points is no longer in the game (seems the old MP maps are now used for a few simple singleplayer fetch quests).

I think it's now easier to get enough points to get the "perfect" ending (which was in the original game back then, but hard to achieve). Working towards that in my playthrough.

There's no multiplayer in this, only in the stand alone me3. I also wonder what extras are there for those who completed the 3 games already, I'am guessing all the most obscure DLC. The ending was worked back then, they added enough to shut us up but removing the lead writer back then is not something that could be corrected, it's still good, just not as it could have been.

Just consider the last few hours of ME3 the ending if you're after action, Reapers pretty much destroyed 90% of life in the galaxy and having to make a sacrifice to stop it I thought was fitting.

It's still plenty to good to warrant 3 or 4 more playthroughs just go for it. There's also a mod that changes the ending too if you want to look that up.

The ending was already "fixed" in the original Mass Effect 3 release with a free DLC which added some cut-scenes to make it a bit more understandable but it's still kinda meh way how to end up such a legendary space opera.

Nah but Audemus and the Citadel Epilogue Mod team did.

A better ending would have had a more diverse set of outcomes. ME2 was so popular because your decisions had real consequences. I don't think it would have been bad to allow a full range of outcomes, just like ME2. Total failure, to total victory.

Just take the destroy ending if you don't want to die.
If you want an ending where death is the best answer, romancing Thane really help a lot to see the ending from another point of view...

This was never the issue, the issue was that they advertised it that you're choices through the trilogy would effect the ending, when really you get a three option dialog that selects the color of the filter in the singular ending.

You can also install the happy ending mod.

As I fortold way back in the "retake mass effect" days, they half-assed some slide show and added about 20 seconds of extra footage; bare minimum to have an excuse to say "there we fixed it, if you're still gona cry then you're just entitled ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" but it didn't really change anything.

There's several large mods out there that either make some adjustments to or overhaul the ending, depending on which ones. Personally I use Take Earth Back, Starchild-Be-Gone, Audemus' Happy Ending Mod, and the Citadel Epilogue Mod; as well as Expanded Galaxy Mod and Project Variety which have some effect on the ending as well (PV is extremely customisable so you can kinda cherrypick the stuff you want).

This results in a revamped Priority: Earth, the starkid being removed entirely, the destroy ending automatically activating as soon as you get to a certain point, and then ending the series with a 'hell yeah we saved the galaxy' party that removes references to the reapers in a natural way (you can choose whether the clone portion happens earlier in the game or at the end, as well).

Tl;dr: Bioware didn't fix it, but the community did, at least for me.

I would love it if you made a thread detailing how you make all these changes, so that it all works. I've yet to use those mods, so I don't know how to do this.

I suspect I have 2 more plays of this series in me. 1 very soon, with these mods, and then a play through about the time ME4 is being hyped for an imminent release.

Other than that, I suspect I will mostly play Star Citizen, and occasional new, epic games that are yet to be released.

To be honest, I might have a total of 4 play throughs in me. Two more with the releases of ME5 and ME6. But who knows?

What would be even better is a video you make showing everything in detail, with the assumption that many people won't know anything about modding the game.

It's really not that hard, all those mods are either compatible from the start or have patches built in for one another that usually auto select upon installation.

Me3Tweaks Mod Manager (the mod manager the modding community uses) is very easy to use and automated as well. As far as difficulty to mod the ME games are pretty chill compared to a lot of other games.
