UPDATED GUIDE FOR RETURNING TO ORIGIN
1) Uninstall your Origin, because the new patch (10.5.122) from EA broke everything again
2) Download the Origin Offline Installer 10.5.119

3) Install, be sure to remove the checkboxes from the paragraphs about "auto update"
4) After installation DO NOT log in to your account. Go to "C:\ProgramData\Origin" (attention, the folder "ProgramData" will be hidden by default), find there and open in Notepad (or any other text editor) file "local.xml", the last line there will be </Settings>, ABOVE this line add these two lines
(you will most likely need to add an empty line by pressing Enter first)

5) Delete the three files called "OriginThinSetupInternal.exe" which are located at THREE LOCATIONS

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin
C:\ProgramData\Origin
C:\ProgramData\Origin\SelfUpdate\Staged

6) It's also possible that when you run the game Steam will also try to install EA App, to fix this, go to the drive where you have the game and go to "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\__Installer\Origin\redist\internal", search and delete the file "EAappInstaller.exe"

7) Log in to your Origin account, now everything should work
There may be a little update notification on top of Origin window, just don't click on it (you can close it by clicking on the cross)

2) Качаем ОФФЛАЙН инсталлятор Origin 10.5.119

3) Устанавливаем, обязательно снимая галочки с пунктов про "автообновление"
4) После установки в аккаунт НЕ ВХОДИМ. Переходим в "C:\ProgramData\Origin" (внимание, папка "ProgramData" по-умолчанию будет скрытой), находим там и открываем в блокноте (или в любом другом текстовом редакторе) файл "local.xml", последней строкой там будет </Settings>, СВЕРХУ НАД этой строкой добавляем две строки
(для этого скорее всего сначала придётся добавить пустую строку с помощью клавиши Enter)

5) Удаляем три файла под названием "OriginThinSetupInternal.exe", которые находятся в ТРЁХ МЕСТАХ

6) Также возможно что при запуске игры Steam также будет пытаться установить EA App, для исправления этого переходим на диск, на котором у вас установлена игра и заходим в "SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Mass Effect Legendary Edition\__Installer\Origin\redist\internal", ищем и удаляем файл "EAappInstaller.exe"

7) Входим в аккаунт Origin, теперь всё должно работать
Возможно, в окне Origin будет появляться сверху маленькое уведомление об обновлении, просто не нажимайте на него (можете закрыть его, нажав на крестик)

Sadly that no longer works for me. Doing this opens up Origin but then the banner saying "It's time to upgrade to EA Games" or whatever the verkakte thing is called comes up and cannot be closed.

I tried various fixes for several hours but no joy.

The good news: I finally, reluctantly gave in to the system and--after some kerfuffle--I've got things working again.

For me, what worked was eradicating both apps from my system and then doing a clean EA App install using an installer I downloaded from the EA website. Now when I start the game from Steam all is well.

Dunno about achievements though since I'm kinda past that stage in my play.

The thing that annoys me about Option 3 is having to log in each time.

Honestly good for you that you are past achievement-hunting, really meaning it. :-)

Because the issue with the EA App for most users (including me) is not about playing the games (ME1, ME2 or ME33) - that works rather normally and smoothly - but not getting achievements in ME2 and ME3.

More strange, in ME1 I got achievements alright with the EA App. No problems at all, no real reason to complain about anything. One would think this should be an easy thing to fix for EA. How can it be that it is working fine in ME1 but not in ME2 and ME3? Instead, they choose not to bother in the least, but even force people off the half-baked solution that makes it work. My understanding is that it is primarily THIS that make people riot, including me.

I am beyond grateful for this guide! I've had to restart my ME2 campaign 3 times now. 3rd time being after I followed your guide. Achievements are working perfectly now!

This was my first time downloading Origin, so it took some figuring out. I completely uninstalled the EA app. I also noticed that when trying to play MELE through Steam, it sends me automatically to an EA app installer.

After some fumbling around, I discovered that starting MELE through Origin in offline mode helps bypass that installer.

I'm sure much of this is simply understood by most gamers, but just in case there's any n00bs like me looking for confirmation or a direction to head in, I figured I'd throw this out there!

I did everything but unfortunately still have a popup telling me to install the EA app, only thing I might've done wrong is with the settingkey line of code, wasn't entirely sure what you meant by 'between' since I don't modify files often so I put it above the '</Settings>' at the bottom.

I ran into that, too! I wound up renaming the EA App installers bundled with MELE files in the steamapps folder.

Exact things I renamed:
- steamapps/common/<your MELE folder>/_Installer/Touchup.exe -> new name
- steamapps/common/<your MELE folder>/_Installer/Origin/redist/internal/EAAppInstaller -> new name

That stopped it from asking so it went straight to Origin, but now I (regardless of the local.xml edit/setting it to read only workaround) get an uncloseable "update to EA App" overlay in Origin.

MELE will not launch for me in the EA App either, so this game is now completely unplayable for me.

If this method did not help you, try changing the date on your computer to February 1

Thanks for that renaming trick! I did it, and it works. The annoying pop-up wanting to install the EA App is gone!

As for the rest, you may want to uninstall your present Origin and re-install it according to the guide. It does work for me, I did the re-installation a few days ago, and it is working just fine. I get all achievements. Now, with your renaming trick I even do no longer see the EA pop-up which is fantastic. I realistically expect this to work for not very long though... but for the moment I love it.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but every full origin (no thin ones) version I install ends up being the newest one (.122). Tried the link from OP and other few named as .119 (probably fake) while offline with no success. It just resets .xml file to the original state when I start the game. I made sure every time the update section is unchecked. I did every step as described from OP but the version .122 and "install EA App" still remains.

Да нет, как раз таки работает, а чтобы не мешало софту, сразу после запуска игры нажимаешь на синхронизацию времени и все в порядке
