Does this play nicely on the Steam Deck?

I'm interested in getting this but only if it runs on the deck.

To anyone else wondering the answer is YES.
It works on steam deck right out of the box, no fiddling around needed and it runs incredibly well.

My biggest concern is that because it's from EA the launcher will make this challenging. I really don't want to be installing third party stuff to get it to work hence why i'm looking to buy the Steam version.

Ideally it's just a case of downloading and pressing play. At the very least logging in to EA's stupid launcher.

Or is this one of those games that is totally borked because of a third party launcher,

It’s got a third party launcher, idk if that combined with the steam deck is a good mix, I don’t own a steam deck, but I’d imagine users would want to open their games from steam directly and not open them on steam and have a external launcher running in the Background.

Yeh.
I have the game for free from prime or something but its on the EA store so i'm primarily wondering if this Steam version just resolves the fiddle that comes with getting third party launchers to work.

I have gotten connect and epic running in the past but have recently factory reset my deck to clean things up and am reluctant to go down that route of fiddling with stuff too much again as it adds extra files that are difficult to clean up

yup, i have been actively playing it on deck for the last 3 weeks. Runs perfect.
Halfway through ME2 on insanity currently

It's EA now not Origin.
And yes it needs the EA app but it's pretty seamless.

I downloaded the game
Launched it in game mode.
It installed some stuff.
EA launcher opened and closed a few times.
The game loaded and I started playing.

Weirdly it never asked for EA logon details. I'm on a compete factory reset deck as well. Not sure if steam stores that data somewhere?

TLDR to your question. Yes. But it's seamless.

Hmm it sometimes does with games on the deck. It's possible that they changed something since i posted but i listed what happened above and it didn't need any extra tweaks from me.

I can’t get it to run. I installed it. Installed EA via desktop mode. Try to run it and there’s some discrepancy between my EA and Steam accounts, though they are linked.

Weird. I uninstalled to clear some space but i could try again and test to see if it works for me if that helps at all?

I uninstalled and reinstalled it. 3 installs in total so far. I’m kinda frustrated. Every other game is working fine. I sent in a help request.
