Here’s how to bypass the EA app
I’m seeing constant threads being started by people desperately to play the game they own or thinking of buying the game, and who want to earn the advertised Steam achievements.
If they have a Steam Deck, they want the same, but also want to play in offline mode as well. Here’s how:

been trying the Steam Deck approach to mine since I perferred to play ME through there. But I just end up getting stuck. I followed the instructions, Origin pops but Mass Effect doesn't load

Not sure how much help this will be and there's always the chance my fix was a fluke. But in the off chance it is not a fluke, I hope it will help you be able to play your ME:LE's on Steam. I, too, was an unfortunate victim of the new EA App and not allowing me to play on Steam. When I launched it from Steam, it would launch the EA Link, then say there was a failure on their part and to try again later. I didn't want to mess with the files in the off chance it jacked it all up and was hoping on a simple solution. Not only did this fix my issue and allow it to play / track achievements on Steam, it simultaneously tracks and gives the achievements in the EA App, even though I'm playing it on Steam - win / win!! So here's what I did:

1 - Make sure that your Steam and EA accounts are linked in EA.
2 - Verify your ME:LE files in Steam (mine patched and re-downloaded Steam distributables) Game Page in Library > Settings Gear > Properties > Local Files > Verify
3 - Repair the game in EA
3 Dots in Top Right of Game Thumbnail > REPAIR Game
4 - Launch ME:LE in Steam

**NOTE** A visual indicator if this should work (possibly with this and other EA Games you play on Steam), is looking at the ME:LE thumbnail in the EA App. When mine was giving me issues, it was just the ME:LE thumbnail. AFTER I did the above steps, the ME:LE thumbnail had the Steam tag in the top left.

Again, I hope this works for you and this wasn't a fluke for me. I cannot describe how happy I was that this fixed my issue and it now runs great AND it has the bonus of giving achievements in both Steam and EA. Best of Luck!! [/quote]

I can't find the 3 dots you were talking about in the EA app. But it did prompt me to download the game despite the fact that I already downloaded it on Steam. Should I do so just in case?

Man i´m totally confuse now, i install the hole series new. And use the Origin Hack trick and starts a new game on ME2 but somethings bugged me, what if the same sh.t happen again and i don´t become the last "Insanity2" Achievment all the playtime was useless.

And now i´m thinking of to use this new tutorial with the EA-App again?!?.

Oh man!!!

As an indicator i have 2Achievments left on ME2 if this 2Achievments work with the EA-App than i give it a try with the EA-App.

Thanks for the tipp i try it out but there is one main Problem. You can´t repair a game on EA-App if this game was buyed on Steam?!?. I miss the options on the three dots. It shows me only to, play, playtime and manage with steam and the only option i have is to start from EA-App. Funny thing most Achievments are missing on the EA-App?!?. Hell Yeah That means i can´t do anything more. I try to figure out to update this situation.

Don´t know but i make it easy i use an seperate app to climb the last few achievments in Steam. Even under EA-App the half of my Achievments was not there??? I completed ME1 normaly. Steam understand my Achievments but EA-App don´t have
a clue that i play it.

Yes, I would download it (if you have the space). I've noticed a couple other replies that can't find the 3 dots on the game thumbnail / tile. In the EA App, go to your Library. Once there, the game thumbnails should be present and have 3 dots in the top right of the game picture.

**I have noticed something while double-checking this.** IF it is the first time you are trying to fix a game in the EA App, the 3 dots menu is different from a game you have tied / managed by Steam. IF it is the first time, the game thumbnail will just be the picture of the game and give you the option to Repair the game in the 3 dots menu - if it is there, do it. IF it is NOT the first time OR if the game is already linked / managed by Steam, the thumbnail will have a Steam tag on the top left of the game picture AND the 3 dots menu will be different / not have the Repair function.

I would emphasize making sure your games / launchers are updated and verified (in Steam). I hope these help.

To me, that means that your game is successfully linked with Steam. It should also have a Steam tag in the top-left of the game picture in the Library of the EA App. That would explain the 3 dots menu saying "play, playtime, manage with Steam". At this point, I would make sure your files are verified on Steam, both launchers are updated, and hope for the best!!

I install it complete new, and verify after this but for me i´m done. Even EA App don´t know what the real thing is it´s completly forgot that i played this game. Half of the Achievments are missing under EA-App and i´m not familiar with their cloudsave system.
But like i said i´m really done now, i delete everything what EA-App has and the complete Mass Effect Series, my idea was to make a good Weekend with a good game to complete the rest of the achievment but it bugs me = install new, delete, hack origin, play again some things are works, some are not?!?. And i don´t have the time to reinstall or try to repair the hole game. I use an app to enable the few Achievments, something that i never do it before but God knows that i´ve really done it. And not even once.

I wish everyone else good luck with that.

You need to remove the EA and Origin app and all traces from your PC. Start completely fresh, and then start a new game.

OMG - this issue is still a thing? I stopped playing in early march due to this issue and it is still not resolved?! Just came here to check and well, I am underwhelmed....:steamthumbsdown:
