Not trying disagree with your larger point, but there are several relics of antecedent civilizations that are described in the game, such as the mass accelerator that damaged the derelict Reaper in orbit around Mnemosyne--a world, interestingly, named after the Greek goddess of memory.
But even 50,000 years is a very long time for any artifact or evidence of a forerunner civilization to survive. Heck, all of human history is only about 8,000 years!
It reminds me of how people will treat stuff that happened 50 or so years ago as 'ancient history' despite there being entire generations that grew up through that time.
Humans are really, really bad at wrapping our heads around the sheer scale of things.
Nah I don't think very many treat 70s as ancient history just yet. Maybe zoomers, but from their perspective it's understandable as for some even their parent's weren't born yet.
I think a good thing to point out is that by the time Javik was a soldier the Protheans had already lost and he was in one of the few (temporarily) hidden holdouts.
The Refuse Ending in ME3 also had the Reapers take their sweet time wiping out the remnants. That doesn't mean the 'conflict' lasted for centuries.
There's also fun misinformation built into the game, like how Illos is actually a planet of the Inusannon; the dominant species in the Cycle before the protheans.
But this isn't really obvious in the game at all and it never comes up with Javik.
So the Protheans leaving behind tons of stuff isn't unusual or unique.
