I don't see on my pc right now any options for cloud save so i guess not.
Space component varies somewhat from game to game. ME1 have some top down like flying between systems/planets etc and a Mako for planetary traavel during exploration quests. Its one of worst parts tbh but manageable. ME2 have space travel simillar to ME1 but with resource mining and a series of ground based quests in M-44 Hammerhead ( a semi flying vehicle with big rocket launcher on top ), ME3 have space travel with additional twist that i don't want to spoil since it is a light spoiler. No resource mining but you can search for hidden short planetary quests and war assets like ship that could arrive in the end of a game.
It doesn't have ray tracing or DLSS i believe. Not sure about FSR but doubt as well.
Whether will this game suck you in depends entirely on you. All i can say there are tousands of people who did multiple playthrough through out the years. Even Mass Effect cast is celebrating the Mass Effect franchise to this day and beyond ( in fact they have a podcast on youtube right now as a part of N7 Day celebration ), personally...wish i could replay it again as a blind playthrough, am not only one who wants that.
On ally NPCs it highly depends on how you spec them and equip. They certainly do damage, they fight , have their own sort of AI that seems to keep up with you.
Mass Effect is semi open world game. There are small main game hubs around like the citadel, Omega, tuchanka that you will find through different parts, most of the game is more corridor based though without that much of exploration.
anything i can add to make opinion better... well...i remember i got original Mass Effect 2 for free on origin back when they used to give away stuff....that was a thievery in white day. Each playthrough i do i still end up dropping some tears or straight up starting to cry. You simply want to care for character in here.
And If you did end up playing it in full and enjoy it. Dragon Age might very well be your next step.
There's a 100% chance you'll love it given what you listed as your preferences.
Yah I noticed it does not have "Steam Cloud" listed but also RDR 2 doesn't list it either but my RDR 2 saves are on both my desktop rig and my steam deck. So I figure that Rockstar was doing it which made me wonder if EA maybe does cloud saving themselves.
Cloud saves are not a deal breaker but I would really strongly like this feature. Even if I don't go back and forth between my Steam Deck and desktop, I would still like my games backed up in the cloud - especially for such a long game.
Thank you again for the great reply. :-)
BTW, I'd still be interested in people's replies and opinions on any of my questions however, if anyone is so inclined. :-P
Buy it! You won't regret it!
If I recall, there is a cloud save function. Basically when playing while online, your save is also saved by Origin..or Steam. But there is a save file on your computer, which is cool. You can save those in another folder in case you need them later.
Depends on what you are looking for. This is not like Star Citizen, or other games, where you see space first-person, and hit a scan key, and see things pop up. You will see a galaxy map, and can choose locations to go to. When you get there, you see an RTS view of your ship, and a handful of star systems. When you enter the star system, it's still an RTS view, and you approach planets. If you enter the planet, you get a choice to scan it. All 3 games do that differently. If you like mini-games, ME2 is your game, as you use a scanner moving it around the planet, and watch a kind of sine wave graph that lets you know when you found something. Then you shoot a probe at that location and get tons of resources.
You do get to drive some vehicles in ME1 and ME2. It's late and my brain isn't working right, as a result, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't a vehicle in ME3.
Don't believe it has Ray Tracing. Not sure about the others. This game is built on Unreal 3, but looks really good. Especially ME2 & 3.
There are a couple of solo missions, but most missions you take 2 NPCs. There is a tutorial that teaches you how to use them. Set their power usage to defensive only. This way you can direct their powers at the enemies you want to hit. Look up info on Biotic/Tech Combos and Explosions. Create a cheat sheet for you to keep nearby. This will be especially important in ME2 & 3. Some are Primers, and some are Triggers, and some do both. Use combinations to decimate the enemy with combos and explosions. This is the ONLY thing you should look up. Avoid all spoilers. You WANT to fail this game. It's story rich, and you will miss a lot of that story if you only win it each time you want to play. And you will want to play it more than once.
I played some of them. RDR2 being one of my all time favorites. This trilogy, for story and characters, is IMHO, equal to or better than RDR2...hard as that may be to believe. It doesn't have the vast open world, however.
Mass Effect 1-3 are the only games I've ever played more than once. And I've played it over a dozen times. Many here have done the same. It is so good it developed a cult following, such that when an IGN reporter was being asked about playing the Mass Effect Andromeda game at the EA invite, she wanted to talk about all the negatives..she wasn't overly impressed...but she admitted to being afraid to say anything because she knew Mass Effect had such a passionate fanbase. She was afraid of backlash. Turned out most people agreed with her.
I'm pretty sure you will like it...a lot.
The best advice I can give you is to stay away from all manner of spoilers, until you at least play it one time, maybe twice. Then go to the wiki to learn what you may have missed. This game is all about the story, characters, and CHOICES. Your choices have huge consequences sometimes. And those choices carry over to the next game. If somebody dies in ME1, they aren't in ME2 or 3. If they die n ME2, they aren't in ME3.
Again, failing is winning in this game. Don't go back and fix something if you realize you made a mistake. Play it out. You will see scenes others have not, because they used walk throughs and spoilers to avoid failing...so they never do...and miss out on epic scenes.
I did! I don't!👍😊
Thank you for the reply and tips. I just poked around a little so far but it's a very promising start. I feel very good about it!
That's very high praise comparing the story quality to RDR 2. That's one of my favorites too.
I'll definitely avoid spoilers until I finish at least one playthrough. Aside from this thread I'll stay out of this forum and the subreddit until I finish.
Thanks again! 😊
