So, for some reason (dunno why, all squad members loyal, all upgrades bought) some characters died in the suicide mission. Since that was obviously not my intent and Mordin is replaced by some cheap replacement, I tried to "repair" my savegame with the trilogy save editor. Now, I have no idea why, but even with only edited savegames in the folder ME3 still says that only nine squad members have survived.

Has anyone experience with that?

Thanx for any answer!

btw: I post here since origin has rather bad forums.

Which class are you playing? I need to know to advise the best people to take on the very last mission where you battle the Human Reaper.

Also, do this:

For the tech person, there are only two viable choices. Tali and Legion. I normally use Tali, but I think the downside to her is that you don't have all day to get her out. I believe she can die if you dillydally. But Legion is a more powerful fighter.

Garrus and Miranda are the only two options for the Squad Leader...both times.

Send Mordin with the rescued crew members.

Bring Samara or Jack to provide you with your Bubble.

DO NOT take the two most powerful fighters with you on the last mission. The overall strength of the crew you leave behind to cover your backside, is important. Too low, and people die. This is also why you send Mordin with the rescued crew. He's one of the weakest crew. I don't know who else can go with the crew and not die, but I never bothered with the others. I guessed right sending him the first time, and so I always send him.

If you can strip barriers, Thane and Samara are worth taking with you on the last mission. Both are tough, but not so tough that you leave the others in a bind, and they have one very good advantage on that mission. They both have throw. Use that on every Collector that is striped of barriers. It knocks them off the platforms, to their death. Take out the Scions as fast as possible, however. They tend to pin down your teammates, making them fire back at the enemy less.

Give Samara the Mattock. It's a beast in her hands. Look for advice sites on Insanity builds for both of them. Normally you want to max out Thane's Warp, Throw, and Drell Assassin. You will be tempted to do so on his Shredder ammo, but don't. It's useless. They should have made it penetrate shields and barriers if they wanted it to be useful.

I am a vanguard. And I found at least two reasons for two dead in your answer: Mordin went with me to fight the reaper larva because well, he has Incinerate; and for some reason I thought it a good idea to have Zaeed lead the second team. Thus Mordin and Zaeed died. The others probably died because I took too powerful a team to fight the reaper.

My last play through was as Vanguard. Take Thane and Samara to the last battle. I'm trying to remember how I had them built, but I'm pretty sure I had everything set to maximum damage to one enemy, because the Collectors tend to stay spread out, so area affect is just wasted. I do know I gave Samara the Mattock, and she rocked with it. You want them for their Throw.

I also took that skill Power for Shepard that allowed me to take down barriers. This allowed me to take barriers down, and then have Thane or Samara use throw to toss the Collector off the platform.

I had a good shotgun, but not the Krogan Shotgun. You need more shots than that. I let Harbinger get close to my position, which was away from Thane and Samara. I had them to the right, and I stuck to the left side. This allowed me to not have to worry about them when I had to worry about myself, and when I needed to worry about them, I was not in danger, normally.

By this I mean, keep an eye on them. Make sure they are not out in the open. Place them fairly close, but not exactly side by side. Spread them out just a bit, and placed into cover. If they get out of cover, put them back into cover. Watch their health. Heal as needed. I don't think either is too squishy, but they aren't Grunt either.

Remember that Reave is great against armor, and both Harbinger and the Scions have armor. I can't remember if any of the grunt Collectors had armor.

Anyway, when Harbinger comes at you, I did a biotic Charge after stripping his shields, and having Samara Reave him. I Biotic Charge, Shotgun, Melee, Shotgun, Biotic Charge, rinse and repeat as necessary. Often you can have Thane or Samara finish him with Throw, if necessary, but resist that. Try to kill him with a head shot if possible, as I think that causes ammo to drop.

Have fun.

Thanks a lot. Turned out I had a savegame at the start of the mission and I even random took Thane and Samara to the final part of the mission. ;)
