Best weapon in ME 3
Without a question of a doubt it is the M7 Lancer.

Why?

The M7 Lancer is similar in appearance to the default M8 Avenger, but is different in all other remarks. First and foremost, it has unlimited ammunition. You will find, especially on Insanity difficulty in Mass Effect 3, that there is a deficit of ammunition dropped by enemies. You will mostly have to rely on stashes, which are not always readily available.

I typically find myself modifying the weapon with clip capacity (mandatory) and either stability to completely remove the upward recoil or the extra armor penetration for armored enemies.

At max rank the M7 Lancer has 85 rounds in its clip and quickly recharges after you pause shooting. It's a light weapon capable of retaining the 200% power recharge rate if used as the only weapon without having to use ultralight mods.

The ability to spray and pray makes it effective with ammunition powers, which proc effects repeatedly. It does a great job bursting down shields and barriers. It can be used on any class effectively without sacrificing any class advantages.

The amount of control this weapon provides to stay on target, with the fact that it never runs dry on ammunition, the light weight of the weapon which does not hinder power usage, and great sustained DPS surely make this the best, most efficient weapon of Mass Effect 3.

As a bonus, this weapon is not instrumental in the hands of your companions. Due to their extra damage buffs and seeming immunity to recoil/dispersion, other weapons are better in their hands such as the N7 Typhoon, which is unwieldy in your hands but insane in your squads setup.

The Pistol from Citadel will oneshot most enemies.

N7 Valiant for my Infiltrator. Reload fast, shot fast, good power, enough ammo. Assault Rifles don't work well with Tactical Cloak and headshot bonus, while SR have the bonus of time dilation. Tried shotgun but sniping across the field (penetrating cover) is more convenience.

Backup weapon is Blood Pack Punisher, almost zero weight with Ultralight, relatively high power - on par with M-7 Lancer, reasonable middle range accuracy. I don't use it for its armour piercing rounds.

Tried carrying three weapons, but not very useful in ME3. They don't rush you en-mass like ME1 or ME2. Brutes turns around when I cloak, Banshees never cover their heads, Phantom don't even have armour. Weapon swap is too slow when you need it, relative to shooting.

I think ME3 got the most diverse weapons of the three, and with free loadout it supports a wide range of styles. Which is good.

No argument with any of that. I used it in my last playthrough as a Adept.

The Prothean beam rifle--I forget what it's called--is pretty good too, for many of the same reasons. Though it's much heavier. But if you can get it up to level 10 and use the ultralight materials it doesn't impinge too strongly on your power bonus, maybe 175-185 instead of 200.

Another good one though it's a latecomer--you get it as part of the monastery side mission--is the Asari shotgun. That thing is lightweight even without the ultralight materials--again, you have to get it to level 10--and packs quite a kick. Used it in another playthrough as a Vanguard.

Another weapon I think is underrated, though not as useful as the above, is the Indra full-auto sniper rifle. Big clip, lots of spares, with a decent ammo power you can take down one of those big Cerberus mechs with no trouble.

It's waaay heavy though. I have used it and find it less than satisfactory, especially since it's hard to pick off targets at range.

If you're going to accept that much of a weight penalty, consider the Geth shotgun instead. That thing can one-shot almost anything if you pump it up! :-)

I merely put it out there because it's so overpowered, not a favourite, I usually use the Bloodpack and another pistol, I forget the name, but they give me a nice balance.

N7 Valiant easily get a tactical cloak a ammo a reflex mod stack those weapon/headshot damage just 1 bullet 1 death everything on your path and the absurdly quick reload time you can just shoot anywhere and deal a lot of damage

I quite enjoy the particle rifle you get the fire or electric bullet and you either stunlock or melt enemies get a magazine extension for it and you can shoot for days

Valiant, although Mattock comes close. Eviscerator is excellent as shotgun.

Mattock was amazing in game 2 and it's good on normal mode in game 3, but really falls off on Insanity difficulty. Even the fully-automatic version lacks the oomph from much faster firing weapons. The faster the rate of fire the more damage can be done with ammunition powers like incendiary for example, which obliterates enemies.

Gonna be that dude and say the Chakram launcher and Harpoon gun are the shizz. I use Liara to throw stasis bubbles and then charge up and fire either of those into it. It's quite entertaining.

It's my favourite just because it's the fcking ME1 Lancer lol

Chakram Launcher I tried, it's good, but I found other weapons that suit my style better.

Yeah it's a bit of an odd weapon for sure. Honestly I tend to go by what weapons feel or sound cool. Except SMGs because mehhhh.
