You also see female Krogan and Salarians in ME3, however that's in the base game. You never see female Drell.
Asari is neither, as many have said. The termology used, is for "us" the reader to understand the it better, they ofc corrected this after the first ME and made it more "lore" friendly.
Not that it matters tbh.
Many of the species people bring up (yes not races, species) have plenyt of good reason why "male" or "females" are not seen so often.. like very good reasons.
Hint hint. Go and look up the lore about their societies and how their cultural structures are build. Then you will understand why you don´t see Salarian females all over the place.............................
In ME3 there are 2:
- A temporary squadmate in the Omega DLC
- An NPC that Garrus can talk to if you aren't romancing him.
