Mass Effect™ Legendary Edition

Statistiche:
Kaiden (Spoilers)
So, I'm someone who hasn't finished Mass Effect 1, so I really don't know too much of it outside of Mass Effect 2, and 3.

During the mission on Feros when you're given the choice to save Ashley, or Kaiden, my genuine question is; Who would honestly choose to save Kaiden over Ashley?

I ask this, simply because Kaiden is by far the MOST forgettable character in the ENTIRE game. His story is boring, his background is boring, he has constant migranes because he himself REFUSES to upgrade his biotechs chip from an L2, to an L3, he doesn't have much for a family, and doesn't really care to open up to you, nor "want" to talk to you, even though he's the first crew/team member you get. Not to mention when it comes to Biotechs, Liara is the far superior choice. Let's not forget outside of the "Commander", Ashley is the ONLY character who can equip Medium/Heavy armor (which is stupid, because majority of the time, I AM picking up heavy/medium armor, and rarely use Ashley, and I'm NOT a soldier).

So the only possible reason i can see anyone saving Kaiden, is for an achievement. Outside of that, there is absolutely NO reason to save him. Like I'm sorry to the voice actor, and the character himself. But his writing, and story, almost felt like it was all mashed together at the end, because someone said "Well.... We need a male human, if we have a Female Human...".

Just my personal thoughts anyways.

I went in thinking "Simple Minded, save women and children first".

The line of logic that goes with the term 'women and children first' is that women aren't as tough as men and need to be saved. So to hear it applied to Ashley, who is both a grown woman and a soldier in the Alliance Military, is strange to say the least. She's not weak nor fragile, compared to Kaidan she's actually tougher. So if anything, Kaidan is the prince in distress on Virmire.

And anyway, if you pick Ashley to stay with the bomb, she's the one that tells you to go get Kaidan. Kaidan doesn't tell you to get Ashley because it's the 'gentlemanly' thing to do. He says it because it's tactically the most sound advice to just keep moving forward, which is why Ashley says the same thing when she's in that spot.

I always chose Kaidan until the first time I played ME3 and the idiot said it was ok that I cheated on him in ME2. I then went back and let him die out of spite and just didn't bother with a romance in ME1.

Ouch.... Just Ouch....

So he forgives you and you condemn him to death? I don't understand.

Because he is wrong about me cheating. He had sent me a letter saying he didn't know about us after everything that had happened. That means we are on a break, we are not together, and I can see whomever I wish. Not cheating and thus no need for forgiveness.
Back when I first played this game I was like 13 and Kaidan came in and my mind just went "Oh ♥♥♥♥ its Carth again, ♥♥♥♥ em" and so he died. Nowadays I never save Ashley as she is just not as good a companion (Sentinel in ME1 is a super good support and in 3 he is the best tank). Some people are put off by the space race superiority thing she pulls and the Christian thing (which never really gets brought up again.)

But anyone who says Ash over Kaidan these days has never saved him in another run and compared her scenes with his in 3. (Kaidan is a hell of a bro in ME3) Unless they just really like the James and her interaction and the Salarian. (Who is pretty cool)

I mean sure but Ashely does the same thing and kind of a ♥♥♥♥ about it while Kaidan is honestly pretty understanding and accepts that he is the one who initiated the split while just wanting the relationship to be given another chance.

As I have not, nor will I play as manshep, the Ashley romance stuff isn't really relevant to me. I just always romanced Kaidan and thus he got to live. Granted I didn't romance him this time around but I did let him live, because I'm curious how thing go with him as just a friend now.
I always took the sole survivor background, so I never really blamed Ash or Kaidan for acting the way they do in ME2. If I had a choice I would have done the same thing.

Why you would work with the people that killed your squad is beyond me.

That entire arc of the story made no sense to me anyway. If you were a war hero that saved the galaxy, then died, then came back from the dead and everyone is like "meh, i thought you were dead, oh well, you are old news" and went about their day... ???

I loved the game, but the story was something out of the twilight zone.

Kaidan doesn't accuse you of cheating, he just asks you if something happened between you and x person. When you 'apologise' to him for hurting him, he says he understands. Unlike Ashley, who acts like Ashley.

He specifically says "I understand why you cheated on me but I forgive you" during our date. Pretty sure that's exactly him saying I cheated. Hence my ire. Yes I had sex with someone while we were on a break and that may well have hurt him. But guess what, that is NOT cheating.
And again the whole Ashley comparison is not relavent as I'd never romance her in the first place.

I always pick whoever I send with the Salarian special forces.

This is what I do as well. Ash just seemed to be a better fit for the ground team so she usually got the save.

I tried Kaidan once just to see how it played out. It did not matter in teh end because they are both minor support characters after the first game anyway.

I've always been hesitant to send Ashley with the salarians because of how she goes on about not trusting aliens. I've been more afraid she would shoot them or let them die. The whole let your dog die to the bear always rubbed me the wrong way. I'd fight a bear with nothing but my bare hands to save my dogs.

Kaiden gets better in ME3. Especially, since Ash has the Marksman and it doesnt work. Full powers, I chose Kaiden over Ash cause his is more interesting than Ash. Then again, she's pretty bad ass with a sniper and could sub if you dont have Garrus or if you didnt need Garrus for a mission.

Both are equally good in combat. I never use him on ME1 for combat, so I use Liara instead. Really, it depends on what kind of Shepard I use and if its good for her backstory.

also THIS! I hate that line Ash says, so I just pretend she didn't just say that. I would rather save a dog too. I love dogs...

Not need Garrus, those are fightin words. Garrus is the best at everything, he must always be on missions.
