The line of logic that goes with the term 'women and children first' is that women aren't as tough as men and need to be saved. So to hear it applied to Ashley, who is both a grown woman and a soldier in the Alliance Military, is strange to say the least. She's not weak nor fragile, compared to Kaidan she's actually tougher. So if anything, Kaidan is the prince in distress on Virmire.
And anyway, if you pick Ashley to stay with the bomb, she's the one that tells you to go get Kaidan. Kaidan doesn't tell you to get Ashley because it's the 'gentlemanly' thing to do. He says it because it's tactically the most sound advice to just keep moving forward, which is why Ashley says the same thing when she's in that spot.
Ouch.... Just Ouch....
Because he is wrong about me cheating. He had sent me a letter saying he didn't know about us after everything that had happened. That means we are on a break, we are not together, and I can see whomever I wish. Not cheating and thus no need for forgiveness.
But anyone who says Ash over Kaidan these days has never saved him in another run and compared her scenes with his in 3. (Kaidan is a hell of a bro in ME3) Unless they just really like the James and her interaction and the Salarian. (Who is pretty cool)
As I have not, nor will I play as manshep, the Ashley romance stuff isn't really relevant to me. I just always romanced Kaidan and thus he got to live. Granted I didn't romance him this time around but I did let him live, because I'm curious how thing go with him as just a friend now.
Why you would work with the people that killed your squad is beyond me.
That entire arc of the story made no sense to me anyway. If you were a war hero that saved the galaxy, then died, then came back from the dead and everyone is like "meh, i thought you were dead, oh well, you are old news" and went about their day... ???
I loved the game, but the story was something out of the twilight zone.
Kaidan doesn't accuse you of cheating, he just asks you if something happened between you and x person. When you 'apologise' to him for hurting him, he says he understands. Unlike Ashley, who acts like Ashley.
He specifically says "I understand why you cheated on me but I forgive you" during our date. Pretty sure that's exactly him saying I cheated. Hence my ire. Yes I had sex with someone while we were on a break and that may well have hurt him. But guess what, that is NOT cheating.
And again the whole Ashley comparison is not relavent as I'd never romance her in the first place.
"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few"
This is what I do as well. Ash just seemed to be a better fit for the ground team so she usually got the save.
I tried Kaidan once just to see how it played out. It did not matter in teh end because they are both minor support characters after the first game anyway.
I've always been hesitant to send Ashley with the salarians because of how she goes on about not trusting aliens. I've been more afraid she would shoot them or let them die. The whole let your dog die to the bear always rubbed me the wrong way. I'd fight a bear with nothing but my bare hands to save my dogs.
Both are equally good in combat. I never use him on ME1 for combat, so I use Liara instead. Really, it depends on what kind of Shepard I use and if its good for her backstory.
also THIS! I hate that line Ash says, so I just pretend she didn't just say that. I would rather save a dog too. I love dogs...
Not need Garrus, those are fightin words. Garrus is the best at everything, he must always be on missions.
