Questions about the relationship with Liara in ME2.
I've dated Liara in Mass Effect 1 and gained the achievement.
Now in the Shadow Broker DLC I was able to romance her again, since I did not choose for a particular crew member, although I did not get the achievement. To get the achievement, I assume I have to date somebody regardless.

Is it actually possible to date somebody without any negative effect for choosing Liara in Mass Effect 3? Because from what I remember cheating had consequences in form of weird cut scenes and maybe even worse.

Or if I want to achievement I just could go ahead and quick save before going into a relationship just for the sake I guess...

Liara in ME2 does not count towards the achievement - she's just a sidequest/lovescene thing.

As for impact on ME3? well - that's subjective at best - ill let others clear that up.
I'd wager since you didn't pick anyone in ME2 - but you picked her in ME1 - you may not see any consequences for being loyal.

If you romance someone else before doing the Shadow Broker DLC Liara will give you a good tongue lashing for it. If you do it after Shadow Broker i dont think there are any direct consequences.
You can switch back to Liara in 3 pretty easily and very early in the game but she may comment on you being unfaithful, i am not that sure anymore.
Anyway, you dont lock yourself out of any romance options with her in Mass Effect 3.

As for your achievement trick, that would not work because then it would count your starting save for Mass Effect 3 as " did not romance anyone in ME 2" and thus the " did romance someone in all 3 games" achievement cant be unlocked in 3.

There is actually another easy trick to get the full achievement though, in Mass Effect 1 when you get the achievement after spending the night with Liara before Ilos, just reload that save and spend it again, it will give you Paramour 2, then do it again and it gives you Paramour 3.
Its an exploit of course but it works.

I feel like this tied to something, otherwise it doesn't make sense. You literally reignite the relationship between Shepard and Liara and she genuinely seems to want that too.

Hmm I see, although it is just a game and these are NPCs I would feel bad about it, it is a weird habit of being immersed.

That is just super weird. I have to see if I have a save left for that in case, otherwise I'll just leave the achievement aside until I'll do another run which is 100% inevitable, because I would try the Renegade path someday.

Thank you both for the answers though :)

Yep - its weird - Shadow Broker is an afterthought/DLC - so it didn't factor in and likely they will not do anything about it. Same applies to Kelly as well (not an after thought but a side fling)

As to the second - people who say you can "do the thing" after the main story - are dead wrong.
You may be able to up the "score" but if you don't have that love scene - and it only happens before suicide mission (i think?) it won't count for nothing.
Unless it keeps looping back - Don't think it does.

Anyway I think they did this whole thing intentionally to add some difficulty - no perfect "romances" and such - but that's just my take.

Same here. I never got the achievement for romancing someone in Mass Effect 2 because i always stay faithful to Liara. :lunar2019grinningpig:
And i own Mass Effect 2 on like 5 different platforms.
Its just an achievement in the end, who cares.
Lovecraft May 21, 2021 @ 11:37pm
If you're going after Liara then you have to make a new character to get the achievement for ME2. That is because Liara doesn't join Shepard in ME2, only for her dlc mission. That is the hard truth about that.

Liara is best girl! Its true, I shouldn't be going this far for a few stupid words and badges.

Yeah that's what I figured already, I guess they didn't bother combining these things. It is okay, I'll do it on another run!

So I can do this for Kaidan? My main playthrough stays faithful so I thought I'd miss out on Paramour 3, so I can do the reload trick in 1 and then get the third in 3?

I dont see why not, the person who discovered that exploit romanced Liara but it should work with every possible love interest in that situation.

Im in same situation. Do not want to "cheat" on Liara in ME2. Found out after starting ME2, that rekindling romance with Liara does not affect achievement, which should have been fixed in this LE.
Tried the the thing you mentioned by reloading ME1 save just before Liaras love scene before ilos and it did NOT work. I guess the only option is to romance someone else, which i dont want...

I'm gonna just romance someone else and then use a save editor to clear the romance after the cheevo has popped, best of both worlds with no cheating in sight.

So in ME2:LE Paramour II achievement doesn't pop up when Shep take Liara's picture just before jump through Omega 4 Relay (I mean - in the same moment when sex scene is played if you romance anyone from the actual crew)?

I still have option to romance Miri, Jack, Tali and if I do - then Liara's picture will fall on the desk. I don't remember those achievements from first few playthroughs back in 2010 but it's strange that it won't pop up while player continue romance with Liara in ME2. I read on reddit that some players didn't get trophy even if the romance someone from crew members.

Nope. But if you do romance someone else for the achievement Liara doesnt even mention it anyway lmao

As i recollect.. if you hit on Kelly Chambers throughout the game and do not romance any one in Me2 you get a scene with her at some point? I dont know if that counts towards the achievement though.

I do remember her little strip tease though.

The problem is that the Liara romance in ME 2 is only in the DLC and thats why it does not count.
But you can cheese the achievements for romance, just wait till you have the romance scene with someone in any of the games, wait till the achievement pops and then reload the save before the scene and do it again. Next stage of the achievement pops and so on.
You can get all 3 Paramour achievements in ME 1 in like 2 minutes like that.

Kelly Chambers does not count for the romance achievement, no.
