Better anti-aliasing?
Even with the legendary edition game still lacks good AA, which is disappointing... any good way to increase and make the anti-aliasing look better?

I've searched everywhere and can't find a solution, even at 1440p and 4K there's jaggies and shimmering everywhere.

Like you can tell with your 1080p monitor

Apparently this works? I haven't tried it yet. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1328670/discussions/0/5002914669825586052/

Yeah it works. Since I made that post I also found that using reshade and installing the anti-aliasing filters works too.

I'll try that, thank you.

I think this game uses SMAA, it greatly reduces jaggies but keeps the image clear and sharp
TAA is becoming more and more popular in new games because it annihilates completely any jaggies but it blurs the image too much.

Anti-aliasing can make any game look terrible. It's the absolute bane of graphical engine if not done correct. BUT I do love sharp images in games.. which is rare nowadays. If I had to choose though, I rather completely eradicate AA issues in games because then at least photos in photo mode will look decent then.

If you want better AA get an AMD card. Not trolling, it's the truth. With RIS enabled at 1440p, it looks sharp

Can you post any images of "aliasing everywhere"?
Gonsnakex May 21, 2021 @ 11:25am
Anti aliasing in this game is terrible I agree. I have tried many things but the only thing that kinda works is using reshade and apply TAA shader, FXAA and SMAA all together. And even with this on, you will still se jaggies. Its crazy that they havent improved this

It would not be an issue for you, if you did not have 1080p still

RIS is image sharpening, it's an additional filter on top of AA - it has nothing to do with AA. Nvidia also has their own implementation of this.

AMD's implementation is open source - Reshade literally has it, it's called Contrast Adaptive Sharpening.

I'm not dealing with you basement trolls that have no concept of graphics engine fidelity, go away.
