Origin = No Buy
Too expensive and still bundling games with the Origin malware..... I guess I'll never get to play Mass Effect 3... Boycotting the game and EA since they started doing this crap..

Agreed. Why the ♥♥♥♥ would I want to open another store to run through Steam every time I want to play a game? So ridiculous. I would have EASILY dropped $80 on this had they not included Origin. I'd rather have Denuvo and that's saying something, lol.

I'm pretty sure you download the game through Origin also. So it's like Steam is just selling a listing for a product on Origin. You're not actually getting it from Steam at all... Just feels so wrong and slimy..

Same.

Agree. Origin very BAD.

I love it. Steam logs and uses all your data to produce recommendations and try to sell you stuff. Here it's considered a feature. But, if someone else uses your data for marketing it's considered malware.

You're all idiots.

EA is still the worst video game company of history.

Except I play games not EA.
I’ve actually had superb over the phone help with several games in my account and by way of compensation free Dragon Age Origins Collectors Edition going back -obviously- a few years. I’ve also had great support on the forum and vice versa. I’m going back 20-30 years as well.

Spoken by an ignorant troll. Origin, hardware wise, is superior to Steam in that it uses far less RAM, loads faster and is less bloated. It also has a vastly superior refund policy to steam (frankly it seems a bit overly generous and easy to abuse). The only bad thing about origin is obviously fewer titles and fewer discounts.

UPLAY on the other hand, very frustrating. Loads slow, high RAM useage compared to Origin and terrible interface. EGS is also pretty annoying to use (UI namely.. the fact you can't do something as simple as use your back / forward mouse buttons to navigate inside it tells a LOT about the horrid coding involved)

Wait is it true that Origin is malware or is this another one of those "denuvo is malware" anti-drm talk? I'm not inciting arguments, I just wanna know if Origin has ever been involved with putting malicious files on your PC

Steam has more robust features such being able to remap any control pad and being able to use a PS 3 controller without needing 3rd party software. Origin might use less RAM but what good is that when you buy the game on Steam and require both platforms to be running???? Origin just becomes a useless piece of software taking up more system resources and taking your personal data... Basically malware..

EA removed Dragon Age 2 from Steam and all upcoming EA games in a bid to force people onto Origin. Since this hasn't worked out as well as EA hoped they came crawling back to Steam and other platforms but still forcing people to use Origin... The game you buy on Steam is downloaded through Origin and the two accounts are linked so you can't even run it on just Origin without it also booting up Steam. Steam holds no files on it's servers so it's basically selling products from another store on it's store front.

Why is it that if a man kills another man in battle, it's called heroic, yet if he kills a man in the heat of passion, it's called murder?

I get the point you're trying to make here but I don't think it lands.

We know Origin is required so by purchasing the game we are giving our consent.. just like we do to Value when we buy games on Steam. Don't want to give your consent? Don't buy it. They aren't going to sneak Origin onto your PC if you don't buy it and give your consent.

That's literally the title of the topic...

And? My comments are about the hypocrisy of considering Origin as Malware when Steam does the same thing.
TreeTrunk Feb 3, 2021 @ 1:36pm
I think the real reason it still requires Origin is because they hardly did anything to the games. ME3 was made with Origin DRM in grained so to remove it would require a remaster or at least a lot more work. Very disappointing. :winter2019sadsnowman:
