Yes level 26 is level 53
Go to sleep.... youre not beating the game anytime soon.
There are a few benefits when importing a save from ME1. A portion of your paragorn/renegade points will carry over, up to 190 points per bar.
You'll start at level 2,3 or 5 depending on the level of your character so in your case your character will be level 3. You'll also gain resources based on the level of your imported character.
The amount of credits that you start with will be 10% of the amount that you had in ME1.
I hope that this answers your questions!
Interesting that when I imported my ME2 save files to ME3, it showed all my saves from ME2 including auto saves.
Your import will always been done with your level being determined by the Classic System.
All of the story-based DLC, which have choices that carry through to ME3, can be done after the Suicide Mission. In fact Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival are supposed to take place after it.
Your being given the choice to import a save where you did it or not.
