Be a Sentinel
lol truth
Mordin's incinerate is awesome. Some heavy weapon selection might help you also; I used the collector laser thing but there is probably a better option.
I cleared it because RNG blessed me with enough shockwave misses (or party baits) to down the scions and get to the end. This was the hardest mission for me during the insanity run I just did for ME2 as an adept.
Oh, I am also a late-bloomer and kinda disregarded Jack. If you have Jack and can get her loyalty, squad warp ammo might just clinch this for you with your favorite party members. I took Jack to the final fight and it felt like I was on casual difficulty; I even checked options to make sure I wasn't wasting a clear hehe. Warp ammo is auto-win.
Edit: Forgot to mention; before you go to the fight hit the weapons locker and make sure every shotgun wielder you have is using the Geth Pulse Shotgun. Without auto-win this is a game-changer for insanity adept, and with warp ammo it's just.. well, it's just dumb but a feel-good sorta dumb. :)
This is your "best" Mass Effect game according to to most, with "much better gameplay" than ME1...
Let's be real, the actual gameplay of the Mass Effect games is an afterthought with many oversights.
I just love how these games can soft lock you if you don't archive saves like the developers put literally no thought into what missions should be available to the player at what time. I did one of the DLC missions early on because I didn't know it was DLC and it was the biggest grind ever.
All I hear is "ME2 is easily the best ME game"... Sorry to say guys but after finally playing it after giving up on it 11 years ago I can safely say ME2 is just as bad as ME3 if not worse. Your story telling isn't going to keep me playing this garbage. They should have just kept it simple like ME1 but no they had to try and rip off Gears of War and turn this game into a budget Gears game.
In the floating platform part, use warp bombs to clear the Collectors as they come. They're the priority target since they're easier to kill than the Scions and they do more damage. Once you get to the point where it's just two Scions attacking you, take them both down to a sliver of life before you kill one so you can kill both of them at about the same time (more enemies will spawn when you kill one of them). One of the nice things about the platform fight is that you can knock enemies off ledges (yes the collectors have wings, but they don't seem to remember that).
The only other tough fight in that section is the Praetorian. You might as well break out the heavy weapons for that one. The trick against Praetorians is to keep your distance so they don't do their ground slam and recharge their barrier.
Another point about killing of the small fry (well, relatively speaking...) first is that every Collector carries Harbinger's baton in his knapsack. The more of them you kill off, the fewer times Harbinger gets to respawn. Can't tell you the number of times I've thought, OK, last man, and just as I blast him, I hear that horrible "Assuming direct control...!"
The Scions are always a pain--I find them especially problematic in the IFF mission--but it's actually possible to dodge the freight train if you're alert. Which is good since in addition to everything else, if you get caught in the crossfire of TWO Scions and they both hit you...well, you're dead.
Finally regarding the Praetorian, I find that the best approach is to hole up behind some decent cover--on the Collector ship there's a good spot up on the ledge--and then use the Collector beam heavy weapon--the "death ray"--on account of not having to reload while you're firing and the Centurion doesn't move very fast except when he's doing the regeneration bounce. And if he makes it to the point where your cover's no longer effective, you can run away from him down from the ledge, and the curve of the hill will act as cover while you're doing so.
Yeah, I discovered that when I had to vamoose from my overwatch position because I didn't manage to kill the mofo before he came up the ramp and flanked me! :-)
...Mighty convenient if you ask me! ;-)
