HOW TO DISABLE ORIGIN OVERLAY (possible FPS fix)
If you're having issues disabling Origin overlay because it's absolute dog sh*t, you're in the right place. Come, child. Origin can't hurt you here, not with these easy steps.

1. Launch your respective EA game (for Mass Effect Legendary Edition, launch one of the three games and allow it to load).
2. Once you have your EA game launched (or ME 1, 2 or 3 from the launcher), Alt+tab and open your task manager.
3. Say ♥♥♥♥ you to Origin by ending the task.
4. Re-open the game and hit shift+F1 to verify that the fix worked.
5. Accept your freedom.

EDIT
See below for another more permanent fix for the solution thanks to glorfindle1983 and Cracktober. If you're having frame rate issues, ending Origins task frees up your CPU a bit. I would recommend my solution if you are experiencing FPS drops. If you just want Origin overlay disabled, a better fix is below!

Or maybe the achievement pop ups are just annoying and people want them gone 🤷🏻‍♂️

Origin overlay has been known to persist despite disabling it within Origin. Not only that, but Mass Effect is an unoptimized mess right now. Disabling origin in its entirety helps with frame rate issues. But then again, I’m simple. What do I know?

Why not just disable the overlay in origin options? that's the proper way. It disable it for me, despite some people telling it still persist.

It’s locked to on when playing through steam, for some dumb reason.

You can disable to notifications and sound pop-ups at least.

Rename igo64.dll in Origin dir; that's one fix for all games, not only ME:LE!

I managed to disable the overlay by deleting or renaming
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\igo64.dll

Thanks fellas. The fix worked like a charm.

Keep in mind I do believe this file comes back whenever you update Origin, small problem but worth pointing out

Yes, I can confirm this! When Origin updates, new igo64.dll will be made/downloaded, so you must rename it again! But, again just few seconds of work!

This tip **alone** must have increased my FPS by 4-5x.

Thanks!

Tried the same fix with EA desktop, but if I delete go64.dll the game just won't launch.
