Do choices matter much?
A lot of people saying they don’t matter because of the end of 3 but people also argue that they do matter

As long as you feel good with your choices, it does not really matter. If you get down in the story flowchart options weeds then it will make a difference on how the story plays out and who survives. As with real life, there can be some unintended consequences of choices that appear to be the best valid choice.

The only one that really threw me...been years since I played the original series...was the "you can't turn back" suicide mission. They throw it out as just another mission so if you don't know how it works you can end up with a pretty sucky ending or have to go back to an earlier save. So the lack of information about that mission choice really bothered me.

i's very significant for the history and the narrative path of many mission. the paragon or conciliant side allows you choices to continue more easily the quest or other side stories. and of course the live and death of characters.

for the me3 it's significant about the number of war resources you can get.

however, ME trilogy ist'nt a game for rush. the fight is just a pretext, the interest of the game is history.
if you take time in each game of the trilogy, you get the betters story path for shepard. and of course, you start me3 with a powerful commando.

that's depends of how do you want play the game and follow the main/side stories!

It's more of a disapointment issue, you realize that all those war assets and decisions you made hardly change anything, they just improve the ending you have (being destruction the only one you have by default that gets upgraded) or add new ones, there are 7 endings (3 destruction, 2 control, 1 synthesis and 1 where it's the next cycle that defeats the reapers) and some final decisions conflit with everything you managed so far.

For example, why debate if you should save geth heretics or not, should you really care for the geth when they want the reaper code upgrades? initially the game gives you those choices, but if the end you pick is destruction ending, then all geth are gone, heretics, reaper upgraded ones, every AI is wiped.

My sugestion is to enjoy the game up to the very end, the connections you make, the decisions you make, all matter.

Mass Effect is all about the choices.

Shepards fate is almost always the same. But, that does not mean that the decisions you made before go to waste. Look at the Krogan. Look at the Geth/Quarian situation. Look at Virmire.

Yes. And it's very important that you do so. Even if it means to forgive the bad.

i've played the three before this HD upgrade and choices most certainly matter. i'll give a spoiler heavy example:

You can choose to sacrifice the council to have a better shot at Nazara. In ME2 and ME3 the council is controlled by Humanity and the replacement ambassadors are a shadow of their original ambassadors, they are either too easy to please or too dismissive. Meanwhile a lot of aliens hate your guts for putting Humanity first, even during the biggest battle, you still find time for politics.

Worse still, Udina has the galaxy by the throat and is even more determined act like you don't exist. This can affect your war resources in ME3 when your allies withhold their support or only give partial support.

Your actions have consequences all the way down the line.

Yes and no.

In terms of the journey.....absolutely they matter.

In terms of the destination....not so much.
