Recovering Lost Save due to Cloud Save overwrite

Let me start by saying this: What the actual ♥♥♥♥ EA/Bioware? I just finished ME2, perfect game. 40 hours. Closed the game and because my wifi had disconnected it popped up a box saying "RESTORE CLOUD SAVE" and I didn't even get a chance to read it because it came up AS I CLICKED on the screen. I boot up the game and ALL my saves are gone and I'm 20!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours back. I can't even 'restore' my local save in Origin because it's greyed out.

PLEASE tell me someone has worked this out.

Disable Cloud saves.
Disable cloud saves for every game that allows you to disable them.

Then write this one off as a learning experience.

you can try looking around in the safe file folder (google knows where that folder is no doubt).

but chances are you are it's gone and you were just the victim of an unfortunately timed misclick.

Never use the cloud for saves unless you need to play on computers in different locations. That's what cloud saves are for. This happens to everyone sooner or later. Now you know. Saves overwritten by the cloud are gone.

im fairly sure i disabled it but it probably reactivated during the last Origin update knowing EA

Welp i am going to take this as a warning. And disable this right now. But is there a way to back up my saves to the cloud once i beat a game?!?

honestly i used to disable cloud saves.

but in reality i ended up losing save files because of new pc/reinstalling windows/freeing up hdd space more often than i have due to cloud save shenanigans.

note that OP didn't even encounter shenanigans, he just misclicked on a unexpected popup, who hasn't done that?

That's unfortunate, you'll have to keep checking it's disabled after every update.
note that isn't criticism, before someone suggests it is, just a suggestion.

You could always just back the saves up onto a USB drive.
