Also how encouraging her to start talking with her father is supposed to be renegade lol?
This. Just got a rekindle/romance-achievment (Paramour 2) after that conversation myself
I hope that's something that's fixed in the next Mass Effect. It seems that they have done is make the cut scene type convos all about romance. Once the Romance is broken/not possible, those convos no longer happen. I would rather the focus just shift to friendship conversations, with some of them strengthening the friendship, or offering you upgrades/improvements of some kind.
I found myself in a relationship with Jack when I did not want to, simply because I wanted to keep the conversation going. I saw no reason Shepard couldn't want to get to know Jack more, without wanting to Romance her. In fact, I think with Jack, the best interactions...the ones that would make the most sense...the ones that would make Jack truly accept Shepard as a very close friend she trusts, would be for him to truly care about her, but not romance her. If he romanced her...with her past...she would put all of his niceness towards her, down to him just wanting to bed her.
If he truly wants to get to know her, he would be a true friend to her, and ask nothing of her...accept nothing from her, other than friendship.
Also, I'm not much of a fan of the third person conversations. Especially since you can't choose conversation paths. I hated that Mass Effect 3 started using a lot of those. Seemed less personal. Maybe it would have seemed less so, if you could still interact with them, not just press the space bar to hear what they say next. I hated that these were the only types of conversations you could have with Kasumi and Zaeed in ME2, other than on their Recruitment and Loyalty missions. Was disappointed to see so many of them in ME3.
I think that's possibly an issue with the games also having to work with Consoles. Seems like games have to be "less" to work with Consoles. That and GUI's that are meant for Consoles, instead of a PC GUI. I won't play Skyrim without using the GUI Mod for PCs. I don't want to Click three times to use something, when one key press should do it. Consoles need that because of Controllers instead of Keyboards to make choices.
