How do I properly export a midi file with good sound?
I use Sibelius with NotePerformer, which makes the instruments sound very realistic. When I export this into a midi file (following all of the criteria for a midi file through the guide) the audio is always just a piano.

So my question is how can I export a midi file using the soundset I use in sibelius? Am I forced to use the General Midi sound set when in creative mode?

Maestro VR uses Soundfont .sf2 as a main library for MIDI files. In future updates we'll let you modify the Soundfont through the Workshop or by copying the .sf2 file to a similar folder as with MIDI files.

If the midi file you export from sibelius sounds like a piano, maybe you are exporting the MIDI in Type 0.
Type 1 files contain separate information for each track. For a Type 0 file, however, all the tracks are merged into a single track, although MIDI channel information is still retained.

In Sibelius to export a midi file, go to file, export, MIDI, and select type 1. Then export the file.
