What is the deal with modding. are you allowed to mod the game without being banned? can i have mods running while on multiplayer on my own server? what are the do's and dont's?

Mods not really needed you can use cheastick. cmd consol.
Just type it in as is then enter then press F1

but is this legal and non bannable in all playable modes?

While in-game hit esc type in cheatstick hit esc again and then hit F1

You wont see any text just type it into your screen once ingame and loaded a save.
Type in cheatstick it will open your inventory press enter and close the inventory then hit F1
it may take a couple of goes.
No its not bannable or illegal.
You will need to apply everytime you load up a save.
