I also added electric fences, just because I like to see them kill themselves.

Because if that's it... I also built a base there, but ON THE LEFT, of yours.
That's because that is one of the spots where they will not walk into (like in the salt water).
I just built a normal base there and they will never get close... unless they'll accidentally fall from the clif above.
This place is kinda bugged, Kelvin and Virginia either get stuck there, or not go there at all. Rabbits are not scary and spawn right in front of me, free food!
Enemies sometimes get close, but also kinda bugged.
On the left there is so tiny place, not much for a base.
But it's also in a good spot map wise. Never built on the water though. With how easy it is to make defensive walls lined with sharp spikes i never found a need to cheese pathing in sotf like in the original game.
I built my house and surrounding defenses literally on the stone piers with the helipads. You get great visibility there, plus a ton of crates with respawning food, and like 3 or 4 golf carts which also respawn crates, solar panels, batteries, etc.
In terms of defenses, all you have to do is build some electric fence around it. I did two lines of fence, and a line of traps between them. Nothing ever really gets through.
Biggest downside is it makes the game too easy.
The location I believe is nearly identical to your location.

I added the fence mostly as a snare so I don't have to do any actual fighting. They wander through that area and go right for the fence, attacking it and electrocuting and impaling themselves on the spikes. They are not smart AI creatures by any means, LOL.
My goal with all bases is "totally self defending"
On the east side of the map, there are helipads that make good bases as they only need defending from one side. They also provide a flat building surface, and respawnable loot.

They are close to several late game locations also.
