Location to build main camp`?

i like that lake that never fozen. What you think is best plase to start

I think the best place is the beach by the life raft where the river flows in, on the point. the location is good, close to the 3d bunker and the rope gun cave first cavern (super good loot spot).the area is very shallow by the point and is a safe spot if needed. some of the boulders in the shallows have deep spots by them that will take fish traps so food is good and one zip line takes you to the fresh water up the river. your line of sight is far so you can see most things coming. get a cart early on the beach as it's a pretty effective weapon if you want it to be.. the one downside is you need the rope gun early. my last few games i just ran the first 3 caves on day 3 to get the gear and go back later once my base is functional and clear the caves. I've built in the popular locations,but my favorite place is on the beach.

I really like where the rivers converge. I built on the South West junction/pond and the upper pond near a cave. This is the lower left map. I also built on the large lake to the East side of the island. I was looking and I think my next build might be on the northern side of the island, I guess kind of above where the bay is where the yachts are. There is a road near the blocked cave that goes to higher elevation and it is flat up there.

A nice view, a lot of useful items nearby, as well as a 3D printer,
Always water and fish right at the base.
Neither too many nor too less visitors, so you can build at a slow pace
many paths leading to interesting and importaqnt POIs from here

Nice spot, i have a base at that location (the little lake that doesn't freeze) I've also built on the "bald spot" that's pretty close.

Be careful about building in an area that has slopes it can get very aggravating .. any type of non flat area ..

100% this. Best locations to not run into this problem is to build on the flat beaches. Only part that sucks is logs on the ground still to this day clip through the map and fall through the world. You can even hear the splash when they hit the water below the world's ground. Been a thing since Early Access.

I also build on the beach. These spiked nests started out ad a way for Celsius and Kelvin to get in into the base, but if you stand there the cannibals just run at you and die. The bridge is because the cannibals were crossing much further down. Now they cross right up by the wall so we can throw spears at them as they cross.
