Fast travel system
This is a controversial one, and I except it to be received as so. But as many people have said, Knight V and the golf cart remain to be clumsy ways of navigating the map, and sometimes can be beaten with simply running/gliders/ziplines.

By fast travel, I DON'T mean a teleportation system. I mean an endgame system requiring keycards and other later resources, intended to make traversing easier ONCE you have already done it. My specific suggestion will be on the bottom.

Why I want it? Especially with the updates coming on, every now and then, you have to travel to faraway caves and other places you have already visited. Using the golf cart/Knight V, I've found this to be extremely slow and boring. The roads are difficult to navigate as they cut often and well, the GPS is what it is and it can't be used while you're in the golf cart.

Now, since ziplines, roads and two vehicles exist, as well as the gliders, I don't want a fast travel system that would completely replace all of those. My suggestion would be a group of long metro tunnels, built in with the Holosprings. Not many of them, mind you - maybe four or five, connecting four to five faraway points, and only accessable with the shovel+some keycard, and perhaps needing fuel of some sort (Solafite?). This way, traversing between far ends of the map would be easier and much less exhausting, BUT vehicles and everything else would retain their use for navigating other parts of the map/shorter distances. You would only have use for them regarding long distances.

With the introduction of such a system, some points of certain resources could also be placed in a manner that if you were, for example, in need of a large number of batteries, there would be some deposit place that would always contain somewhat more than others, and you could traverse there with a tunnel, or close by with a tunnel, encouraging continuing to travel around the island even when you have everything you already need.

Now, this remains a controversial take. I think it would make long distances in the endgame less annoying while still retaining the necessity to make those trips at least once when playing through the game, while also not making already introduced travel methods obsolete.

If anything. I'd agree if this was a hyper end game thing. Like making teleport cubes out of that fancy material after you've literally beaten the entire game and choose to stay behind.

Otherwise it cuts too much out.

Hmmm... I don't like the idea of fast-traveling, unless it's extremely restrictive. For example, the artefact could maybe allow you to teleport, but only once a day, and at the cost of the artefact not having any more power left for the rest of that day.

But I say that with reservations. Otherwise, it would literally ruin game.

Yes, something that comes at a cost, either resources or once-a-day energy restrictions.

There kinda is a fast travel system in game through already, but it takes some work to build up to. Make elevated bases all over the place with ziplines leading to each outpost. They don't have to be big, but it may be agood idea to have defenses nearby.

Yup, I want this for end-endgame too specifically. Like I said, main annoyance for me is running to the same caves all over again. Personally I'm just not a fan of magic teleporting, but it might fit with solafite and other dimension-themes.

Once a day is good too. I thought about resources, but a time limit is another great option.

How do you think the alien spaceship ended up in the depths of a cave?

Yeeaaahh, but it takes a really long time and cant be done for the whole map while retaining your sanity. We used to do this for cross-base travel in The Forest, and its really nice for that, but I wouldn't want to make one across the map.

Like I said, personally just not a fan. Its also apparent it wasnt supposed to, since everyone on board is dead and its stuck. But If this would be the way they did it, so be it, lore-fitting fast travel.

Excellent point. Since the artefact is made up of 6 pieces, known as spherical lunes, could we expect it to have 6 different powers, one of them being this once-a-day teleportation thing?

No doubt it's going into the enchantment table to assemble. You don't have the capacity of 6 solafite ore for it and by coincidence collect 6 spherical lunes.

I suspect the devs have some specific use for it already, since its been foreshadowed a little. This would be cool, too.
