So long as they did not add motorbike crafting I think it would have been fine.
Perhaps yes, but I think a hoverbike, motorbike, bionic legs or even rollskates would have been a lot more interesting.
The dirtbike, Most people asked for. That would be the right answer.
You CAN master using it, but it'll always come with the risk of hitting objects. If you had super fast unabated travel across the island it would trivialize the size of the map and dramatically change the overall experince.
As for the above posted ideas, all of that's utterly too wacky and over the top. While an electric unicycle is pretty out there, it does manage to fit with Endnights style and the theme of the island being host to affluent inhabitants with eccentric hobbies and tastes.
Sure they could have put in a dirt bike. But that would be too effective. Evreyone would use it and you would feel safe on it. I sure as hell don't feel safe using the knight or golfcart.
I still Bet, they Had this ready from the start. But wanted to wait longer. Like in the First game. They added a bit funky stuff at the end.
But the people wanted transportation. So they thought they could please the crowd with this. So they could say, Look we listen :D.
You have to think like a developer. When you make something super accessible and useful evreyone will use it and it wrecks the flow of the game from there.
If you had access to a horse that kicked mutants heads in and traversed all terrain easily, would you not use it indefinitely? Esp if it trippled movement speed and you diddnt get knocked off. Now the entire map feels small and you never have to worry about threats while traveling.
Considering most of the map is devoid of anything interesting above ground, it doesn't really matter if a player traverses the map more quickly. There's nothing to really see or experience other than a few POIs. The rest is copy and paste cannibal villages. A good developer thinks about and respects a players entertainment time and if traversing the map more quickly makes the players happier, then that is what a good game developer company should do. They can still be creative about it and make it interesting as well.
