My interpretation is that the solafite is a byproduct of exotic matter with negative energy density, which relates to current scientific wormhole theory. However, I also used the stars in the game to create a very realistic deduction of the island's theoretical location:
Latitude: 42° N to 45° N.
Meaning, you should likely start the game near June 21. But that's not the actual date. When Jack Holt (the player character) crashes on the island, it's actually supposed recorded as April 28, 2027, as explained by the evidence of communications between Jianyu Zhang and Chuck Dagger, where the former asks the latter what Jack Holt is doing on the island.
The moon rises from the north, known as a lunar standstill period. However, the lunar standstill period is likely 2043 or later, which is anomalous. The only explanation of April 28 and not June 21, as well as a completely different year that shouldn't have a lunar standstill period like this is time dilation, due to the presence of a wormhole.
The region near the Kuril Islands and near Hokkaido is geologically active, with many volcanic islands. It also best fits the environmental evidence (and when looking at the position of the stars).
This suggests the island could be situated somewhere between the equator and mid-latitude regions, specifically around the time of an equinox.
The exact origin of the two islands' ("The Forest" and "Sons of the Forest") peninsulas are unknown. As with most islands, it's likely due to volcanic activity.
This means, for the islands to match the fauna and flora maturity seen within the game, it could take 1000 years after the occurrence of significant volcanic events. But, how can an island that only emerges in the future exist in the present?
Again, wormhole theory explains this and opens a door to the parallel universe theory that the lore is suggesting, and brings solafite back into focus, and the artefact technology as a means of tapping into the exotic matter's energy potential for utilization.
This sort of explains the sudden emergence of a mysterious island surrounded by storms and anomalous weather. The time dilation also explains the communication problems experienced once entering the island and the wormhole's vicinity.
The cube being a technological means of tapping into the wormhole, with the demons and religion-based manifestations being the transmogrification of the cultists through the solafite, rather than an actual spiritual affliction on the island.
The crosses and other religious symbols might not necessarily have intrinsic supernatural power but could act as a form of psychological resistance to these manifestations.
This could be rooted in the human mind's ability to channel the energy around them, influenced by deeply ingrained cultural beliefs. Enabling the crosses, in this case, to help resonate with the human psyche as symbols of protection or purity, creating a barrier against what appears to be demonic forces.
The power of belief could be so strong that it disrupts the solafite-induced energy that forms these demons, causing them to burn or retreat when exposed to these symbols.
Highlighting a connection between consciousness and the negative energy that is released from the exotic matter. Explaining why some mutations are different to others, and making this game's story a magnifier lens, an expression of how consciousness may interact with the physical world.
The demons we fight are mostly all in our heads and the truest expression of some people's character are a lot uglier on the inside, even though they appear normal on the outside. Nothing brings out the worst in people than greed, the desire for power, and a challenge to survive when disaster strikes.
I think cultists, as well as workers who were at some point proselytized by other cultists, and then became mutants over several generations. The island was discovered according to the lore thousands of years ago. It's very strange. Maybe the island went missing and suddenly reappeared as well. There's a lot that was left open-ended.
My far stretch theory is : if we see the best of human from other plane, there are be gonna the worst human evolution plane
And we are the middle plane
I kind of like that theory, not so far stretch, an intriguing thought actually...
